About the role

We\'re looking for someone with expert-level front-end skills who sweats the details and cares deeply about quality. You will play a key role in building a Design System and its adoption strategy. As a Frontend Engineer on the Design System Experience Team, you will be responsible for crucial aspects of our product development, architecture and UI excellence. Collaborating within a large team (10+ people), including various experts and business stakeholders, you will help shape our NextGen engineering culture. You will be a key player in architecture, engineering and design decisions for new UI development across Full creative/ AnywhereWorks products. We value candidates with prior experience in similar challenges, as their expertise and leadership will not only enhance code quality but also improve our overall working methods. Join our team and help shape the future user experience of AnywhereWorks products. You will be working on building, maintaining and adoption our Design System to multiple projects. We started building our DS over half a year ago and we are not building it into a new booking page on our flagship product. With time,it will be adopted into all other modules and products. Technologies we use & teach: Monorepos, CI tools, TypeScript, Next.js, React, React Native, Playwright, Storybook, Chromatic, GCP, Vercel.

About you

You have industry experience as a Senior or Principal Engineer, and are comfortable working with React, TypeScript, monorepos, CI and the entire frontend ecosystem. You:

• Are active technical leader with hands-on technical skills - You inspire your peers with your technical expertise and your understanding of modern tools and frameworks, and possess the ability to get your ideas across to other leaders clearly and persuasively. Additionally, you have good foresight into architectural constraints and potential issues before they arise.
• Have expert-level frontend engineering skills and are able to define the quality bar for what we ship - You establish best practices and standards for the team. You actively document practices and patterns for the team and ensure that all team members are working towards a common goal of shipping high quality code.
• Can lead our other engineers and build strong remote first engineering culture - You are able to provide mentorship for our mid level developers on how the nextgen frontend stack should be used and adopted. This will not only improve the end product, but it will also increase the team\'s efficiency and collaboration.
• Have passion for working together (Dev & Design) - You act as a liaison between developers and designers, promoting communication and collaboration to ensure that all aspects of the system are being considered and incorporated into the final product. This will lead to a more cohesive and effective team dynamic, resulting in better software.
• Are a system thinker - You possess strong system thinking skills, which involve understanding and analysing complex systems as a whole. Comprehend the frontend ecosystem, identify interdependencies between components, evaluate scalability and performance, integrate with backend systems, and solve problems holistically.

You\'ll also be someone who:

• Has 7+ years strong experience building scalable, maintainable and cross platform web applications using modern web technologies.
• Has strong working knowledge of frontend technologies including React.
• Has strong experience working with backend engineers on the API design and integration, API versioning and change management.
• Has strong experience writing high quality, well organised UIs and patterns that scale well over time.
• Has a good sense of how browsers work and advocate for the best and accessible UX.
• Has experience building a Design System or at least you have experience using an open source DS.
• Has worked in monorepo architecture.
• Enjoys working in a remote working environment - meaning someone who enjoys working autonomously, documenting their work and processes, and can collaborate and communicate proactively in an asynchronous working environment.
• Seeks to collaborate to solve problems together with empathy and creativity.
• Is comfortable operating autonomously and able to unblock yourself when needed.
• Has excellent communication skills.
• Working experience in SaaS will be a plus.
