Thane, Maharashtra, IndiaJob Type: Full-timeReports To: O&M Manager / Project ManagerJob Overview:We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Field Engineer to support the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) phase of Smart City project. This individual will play a critical role in managing and maintaining the performance of Edge-Level IoT devices, ensuring that the systems are operating effectively and efficiently. The Senior Field Engineer will be responsible for overseeing technical operations, managing multiple vendors, and ensuring compliance with Service Level Agreements (SLA) as defined in the Request for Proposal (RFP). In addition, they will be the primary point of contact for stakeholders, including government clients, vendors, and other key parties, ensuring smooth communication and timely project execution.Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Oversight and Maintenance:
  • Oversee the installation, operation, and maintenance of Edge IoT devices across the Smart City infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance throughout the O&M phase.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve technical issues related to IoT devices, ensuring minimal disruption to the Smart City systems.
  • Implement proactive maintenance schedules, ensuring regular system checks, updates, and patches are applied to prevent system failures or downtime.
  • Perform on-site diagnostics and field repairs of IoT devices and related systems as needed, ensuring operational integrity and compliance with SLA requirements.
  • Vendor and Stakeholder Management:
  • Manage relationships with multiple vendors, ensuring that their services align with project timelines, quality standards, and SLA terms.
  • Coordinate and manage vendor activities related to repairs, upgrades, and troubleshooting for IoT devices and related technologies.
  • Act as a liaison between project teams, vendors, and government clients, facilitating communication and ensuring that stakeholder requirements and expectations are met.
  • Ensure that vendors are meeting performance expectations and service levels, addressing any non-compliance or service failures swiftly.
  • Negotiate with vendors for the timely delivery of components and services as per project requirements.
  • Government Client and Stakeholder Communication:
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for government clients, providing regular updates on the performance of Smart City systems and ensuring satisfaction with the delivered services.
  • Coordinate with government officials to address operational concerns, troubleshoot issues, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Prepare and deliver periodic performance reports for government clients and other stakeholders, focusing on system uptime, incident resolution, and SLA compliance.
  • Handle escalations from clients and stakeholders, ensuring quick resolution while maintaining strong professional relationships.
  • Project Performance and SLA Compliance:
  • Monitor the performance of IoT devices and other Smart City technologies in real-time to ensure they meet the agreed-upon performance metrics outlined in the SLA.
  • Work closely with the O&M team to ensure all activities, from routine maintenance to emergency repairs, are completed within the terms of the SLA.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of system performance, including downtime, incidents, and corrective actions taken, to ensure transparency and SLA adherence.
  • Provide insights and recommendations for system improvements or adjustments to maintain and enhance performance as per contractual agreements.
  • Team Collaboration and Leadership:
  • Collaborate with field engineers, technicians, and other project teams to coordinate efforts and ensure efficient and effective project execution.
  • Lead by example, ensuring best practices in system maintenance, troubleshooting, and customer service are followed by all team members.
  • Mentor junior field engineers and technicians, providing guidance and support to improve technical skills and knowledge.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all field activities, including equipment maintenance, troubleshooting efforts, and vendor interactions.
  • Ensure proper documentation of project performance metrics, including downtime incidents, maintenance logs, and vendor compliance reports.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports on system health, field activity status, and SLA adherence for both internal teams and external stakeholders, including government clients.
Qualifications:
  • Education:
  • Any Graduate with leadership quality and experience in Information Technology or related field.
  • Experience:
  • At least 4-6 years of experience in field engineering, preferably in the Smart City, IoT, IT Infra, or Telecommunications sectors.
  • Proven expertise in managing Edge IoT devices, including installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Strong experience in vendor management and stakeholder management, including working with multiple vendors and clients, particularly government entities.
  • Experience working within the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) phase of large-scale infrastructure projects, with a focus on performance optimization and SLA compliance.
  • Strong understanding of Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and performance monitoring tools.
  • Skills:
  • Extensive experience in field troubleshooting and technical support for IoT devices, networking systems, and data infrastructure.
  • Strong vendor management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple vendors and ensure they meet project requirements and deadlines.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to interact with government clients, vendors, and internal teams effectively.
  • Ability to lead and mentor a team of engineers and technicians.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and software, such as Microsoft Project, Jira, or similar platforms.
  • In-depth understanding of networking protocols, IoT infrastructure, data centers, and related technologies.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle escalations or urgent technical issues promptly.
Preferred Skills:
  • Strong knowledge in MS Office (specially in MS Excel).
  • Experience with Smart City technologies, 5G networks, or cloud-based management systems.
  • Knowledge of network security, data protection, and regulatory compliance in the context of public infrastructure.
Work Environment:
  • The position is primarily field-based, with regular visits to Smart City locations for equipment inspections, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • The role may require occasional travel to remote project sites or to meet with vendors and clients.
  • Some weekend or after-hours work may be required, depending on project schedules and SLA obligations.
