Role Summary
As a Senior Engineer, you'll provide technical leadership and guidance to a team in the delivery of large / complex, water treatment and water network projects, ensuring accurate and efficient project delivery for internal and external clients. Wastewater experience will also be considered.
The role will enable you to further develop and use your technical skills, applying your expertise to help us continue driving forward in terms of both technical quality and service efficiency.
Responsibilities
• Leading technical design delivery and providing technical guidance to the project team;
• Client liaison and report preparation;
• Assist in the preparation of proposals within current frameworks and the development of additional clients;
• Lead on Stakeholder engagement and identify and support in securing potential business development opportunities;
• Training and mentoring of staff, especially more junior staff;
• Develop and maintain project related health and safety strategies, including risk assessments; and
• Operate in accordance with the corporate health and safety, environment and quality standards and ensure the project team comply with such standards.
• Contribute to task and resource requirements across the wider team and ensure delivery;
• Working with, and providing support to, our project management team;
• Potential for line management responsibilities, supporting recruitment activities;
• Raise the profile of the company through attendance and presentations at technical and commercial conferences, preparation of papers and press releases; and
• Work may require travel to the UK visiting offices and project sites
Key Competencies / Skills / Qualifications
• Excellent command of written and verbal English.
• Candidate should have a clear and demonstrable technical understanding of standards and norms pertaining to UK Water Industry.
• Problem solving and originality.
• Computer literate, e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Successful candidate will be a dynamic, self-motivated individual who will take on a Leadership role in project work, focused on delivery to the client and technical excellence. The role requires management of several projects and becoming involved in design at an early stage. The ability to plan and design deliverables against UK engineering standards for each stage of a project is a pre-requisite and training and guidance will be provided where necessary.

• A relevant degree and be professionally qualified with membership of an applicable institution, IChemE or equivalent.
• Significant experience in water treatment and water network schemes.
• Delivering Process engineering and design solutions to meet project needs, including:
• Design, engineering, calculations, specifications;
• Producing mass balances for treatment processes;
• Process Design for WTP, STP, ETP, MBBR, MBR, ASP, Chemical Treatment, Sludge Treatment
• Producing PFD, HFD and P&IDs for treatment processes;
• Trouble shoot and optimise treatment processes;
• Produce feasibility, outline and detailed design reports;
• Assist with preparation of flowsheets and engineering line diagrams;
• Supervise plant layout and pipework design including 3D assembly modelling;
• Site support during construction and commissioning including field engineering assignments;
• Design studies, safety reviews, Designers Risk Assessments, DSEAR;
• Co-ordination with all other disciplines;
• To ensure technical excellence in process engineering and design;
• Experience in the use of offshore resourcing to deliver projects;
• Good presentation, written and verbal communication skills in English;
• The ability to work on your own initiative on technical matters and provide mentoring to others within the team;
• An appetite to work on the edge, and pushing the boundaries of, your technical comfort zone.
