The Role : Senior Engineer, PAS TechOps

Senior Windows System Administrator working within a global support Team. You will provide an exceptional level of support to complex applications involving operating systems, sub system and software components while working within the limits of established policies and ITIL framework.

The Team: You will be working within the Operations team within Platts in either Hyderabad or Gurgaon.

What\'s in it for you: Working in a global application support team supporting users based in three time zones and across 26 offices. Exposure to application support, operations, monitoring and projects in a role where you will interact directly with the business and learn the products and systems required to support the business operations.

Responsibilities:

An active member of the Level 2 Application and Middleware Support team following the guidelines of established policies and ITIL framework.

• Responding to escalation from Tier 1 teams within specified timing in order to restore service
• Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues using resources that include personal technical ability, run book, solution database, diagnostics flow charts and senior members.
• Provide in depth application support via assorted media including telephone and online collaboration and chat tools.
• Interact with internal teams and external 3rd party vendors to trouble shoot and resolve complex problems
• Understand and maintain application monitoring and performance tuning tools to identify anomalies quickly.
• Follow appropriate departmental and company procedures and policies (i.e. change control, security and auditing, release, configuration, problem and incident management).
• Provide input to administering and maintaining all production and internal environments
• Provide input to change control implementations, backup and roll-back plans
• Act as a technical resource for internal and external projects
• Utilize and contribute to robust procedures and processes within the TechOps team
• Responding to logged service requests, account administration, software installations and general application and server administration.
• Maintain good working relationships with internal departments as well as 3rd party vendors.
• Fast learner and someone who\'s exploring opportunity to learn new technologies.

What We\'re Looking For:

• Windows System Administrator with at least 5 years of experience working in a Production environment.
• MS Certification(preferred)
• An excellent communicator who will be able to provide best practice guidance on Windows configurations.
• Previous experience working with Cloud infrastructure, ideally AWS.
• Experience in Server backup restore processes, security settings and load balancer configuration
• Previous experience in troubleshooting & supporting applications running in a production environment
• Previous experience with OS/Server Patching and troubleshooting patching failures.
• Previous experience deploying Application releases and Patches.
• The candidate should have some scripting ability; shell, PowerShell, SQL.
• The candidate have some experience with automated deployments, ideally Ansible/Jenkins.
• Previous experience supporting websites running on Windows in IIS -.Net or Tomcat.
• They should have experience in configuring iis, Windows services, registry settings, database connections and deploying applications.
• Experience with supporting multi-tier infrastructures.
• Superior understanding of the following Protocols, TCP/IP, HTTP(S), SSL, WWW, JMS, FTP, Telnet, DNS, DHCP, VNC,RDP, NAT, SMTP
• Working knowledge networking components and troubleshooting tools (Load balancers, routers, Firewall, NAT, DMZ, AWS)
• Tools Putty, RDP, SSH, WinSCP, MySQL, SQL Management studio, Postman
• They need a high level of experience in troubleshooting issues; network connectivity, website configuration and UAC in particular.
• They need a good understanding of infrastructure Security and would need to review work requests and ensure that everything is following best-practice standards.
• They should be a strong technologist who is keen to learn and who would be able to act as a technical resource for Development and Project teams.

Basic Qualifications:

• 5+ years\' experience in an hands-on application support/ tech lead role
• Extensive problem solving and debugging skills
• Experience in providing services to agreed SLA\'s and OLA\'s
• Experienced in Problem and Incident Management supporting a large corporation
• Experience with working in an ITIL framework
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Flexible in working outside of core business hours at short-notice
