Role ProfileEnter role description, team description and department description:Department: Shared Technical ServicesPurpose: To provide 24-7 support, maintenance, service improvements and incident resolution for messaging applications supported by the PostTrade Middleware team.Role Description: This role forms part of a global team providing application support for the Middleware services which underpin a range of PostTrade systems.The 3rd party applications supported by the middleware function include the SWIFT Alliance product range, CREST, IBM MQ Series, Oracle WebLogic, Oracle Service Bus, EPAM FIX Engine, Axway CFT, BMC Middleware Monitoring (BMM).Enter the key responsibilities of the role:Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the incident management process and resolution of such incidents raised within the production environments as part of a 24 -7 support rota.
  • Provide 1st to 3rd level support and consultancy to test and development teams in relation to Middleware supported applications. As such ensuring test environments are fit for purpose and regularly synchronized, maintained to production standards.
  • Implementation of production changes across all Middleware supported applications as part of the PostTrade change management process.
  • Took part in the availability and capacity management of the middleware services.
  • Engagement in the design, configuration and delivery of all Middleware systems required to run the business.
  • Liaise with development leads and product managers to ensure that new releases/platforms are delivered smoothly to the production environment.
  • Ensure that all processes and documentation are adequate and effective to meet support and audit requirements.
  • Ensure all software end of life dates are appropriately reported and upgraded where funding is obtained from the business.
  • Handle support queries from internal and external customers through to resolution.
  • Adherence to all the IT Production procedures, in particular the IT Production Incident Management Procedure and Change Management procedure.
  • To ensure effective, pro-active monitoring and management is in place for systems.
  • Define/Implement sufficient monitoring, and automated where possible.
Required technical skills.
  • Knowledge/experience of supporting of Oracle Weblogic Server Products.
  • Knowledge/experience of supporting of Oracle Service Bus.
  • Knowledge/experience of supporting JAVA based applications.
  • Knowledge/experience of supporting IBM MQ Series
Desirable technical skills
  • Reasonable understanding of multiple financial protocols and functional usage.
  • UNIX/Linux and Windows scripting familiarity.

  • Ability to recognize when to declare an incident.
  • Determine best course of action based on inputs from all relevant parties.
  • Ability to determine when to action escalation procedure.
  • Delegate tasks to ensure service quality to defined SLAs.
Communication
  • Be aware of all relevant IT Production procedures.
  • Ensure all relevant teams are informed of potentially impacting middleware issues.
  • Ensure effective communication between Middleware team and other areas throughout life of Incident.
  • Communicate effectively with the business using established channels.
Teamwork
  • Collaborate with other team leads within IT to work to improve application support and efficiency.
  • Ensure representatives from all relevant business areas are involved in the Production processes.
  • Manage and coordinate Middleware team of varying strengths and abilities.
  • Enable effective working relationships.
Ideal Skills/Knowledge Required:
  • Previous support/development experience in relation to the middleware products used within PostTrade.
Education:
  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree
  • ITIL certification is desirable.
Work Experience:
  • Extensive experience in a support role within a production environment.
  • Demonstrable expertise in relevant operation technology
Personal:
  • Good problem analysis skills
  • Ability to provide out of hours working.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
