Senior Engineer - Mechanical Maintenance

Cattle Feed Division

1. Maintenance Planning:

a. Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for all mechanical equipment and systems within the cattle feed plant.

b. Ensure timely and effective execution of maintenance activities to minimize downtime.

2. Troubleshooting and Repairs:

a. Diagnose mechanical failures and perform repairs on machinery such as conveyors, mixers, grinders, and packaging equipment.

b. Coordinate with the maintenance team to ensure quick resolution of equipment breakdowns.

3. Equipment Upgrades and Modifications:

a. Identify opportunities for equipment upgrades and modifications to enhance productivity and efficiency.

b. Oversee the installation and commissioning of new machinery and equipment.

4. Spare Parts Management:

a. Maintain an inventory of critical spare parts and manage procurement to ensure availability.

b. Establish relationships with suppliers for timely and cost-effective procurement of parts and materials.

5. Compliance and Safety:

a. Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

b. Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards.

6. Documentation and Reporting:

a. Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and spare parts usage.

b. Prepare and present reports on maintenance performance, downtime analysis, and cost control.

7. Team Leadership:

a. Lead and mentor a team of maintenance technicians, providing guidance and training to enhance their skills.

b. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and teamwork within the maintenance department.

8. Budget Management:

a. Develop and manage the maintenance budget, ensuring cost-effective operations.

b. Monitor and control maintenance expenses to meet budgetary targets.

9. Vendor Management:

a. Liaise with external contractors and service providers for specialized maintenance tasks.

b. Evaluate and select vendors based on quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.

Preferred candidate profile

1. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

2. Minimum of 8-12 years of experience in mechanical maintenance within the feed industry or a similar manufacturing environment.

Skills:

1. Strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems and equipment used in feed manufacturing.

2. Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical issues.

3. Excellent planning, organizational, and leadership skills.

4. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.

5. Good communication and interpersonal skills.
