Together, we are building a better world, so we can all enjoy living in it.Large Power Systems Division (LPSD) currently is looking for a Senior Engineer to support the development of Core engine components for Caterpillar Engine applications. The position is accountable for leading the development and validation of core engine components (Crankshafts, Connecting Rod, Bearing, Flywheel, Dampers, Gears, Cylinder head, blocks, Valves, Pistons etc..) and systems in support of New Source Introduction (NSI), Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) and New Product Introduction (NPI) projects. The position will have broad responsibility from concept development to release to production in a manner to ensure products provide superior performance, durability, quality, and serviceability.The individual must have good communication skills to effectively collaborate with NSI lead, key product group teams, and key strategic suppliers to effectively design and development components and system solutions supporting product group\'s program deliverables. Clear and consistent communication, the ability to troubleshoot, and solid technical aptitude are essential in this position for effective collaboration with diverse teams.Job duties:

  • In this position, you will be mainly leading engineering activities on several NSI (New Source Introduction) programs by working with global teams, cross functions teams and our supply base to optimize our manufacturing footprint.
  • Engaging closely with suppliers on concurrent product and process design and development of components to achieve our quality, delivery, and financial objectives.
  • Manage multiple projects and closely work with NSI lead / L4 engine platform teams to achieve the goals and keep them abreast of progress and developments.
  • Execute maintenance activities such as factory and customer problem resolution, cost reduction and robustness improvement projects.
  • Design and development of Core Engine components (crankshaft, gears, flywheel, valves, heads & blocks, Pistons etc.), systems and related processes,
  • Provide technical support to Manufacturing, Quality, and Purchasing Engineers during the component development.
  • Participate and present program status of the design to key stake holders, and senior leadership.
  • Lead failure issue resolution to identify root cause / rapid response to issue resolution to keep our products in-use.
  • Should have knowledge of other functions that provide inputs regularly, i.e., Product Development, Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Operations.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor\'s degree in engineering with 8+ years of relevant work experience progressively responsible job-related experience are typically required.
  • Minimum of 4 years of component design or validation experience
  • Good functional knowledge on Core Engine Components system & subsystems
  • Previous working knowledge of NSI, NPI and CPI process
  • Strong interpersonal skills, leadership qualities, and demonstrated excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot component failures while under tight timeline and customer pressures.
  • Self-starter with good multitasking skills to optimize and deliver desired results under challenging requirements of quality, cost (development and product), and timelines
  • Program/project management and strong organizational skills
Desired Qualifications:
  • Master degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Global experience
  • Pro-E and Cat Engineering Standards experience Relocation is available for this position.
