Summary As a Senior Engineer \xe2\x80\x93 Aerodynamics/Aeroacoustics/Aeromechanics, you will collaboratively lead applied research in computational aerodynamics/aeroacoustics/aeromechanics for GE Aerospace commercial engine programs and technology demonstration programs such as RISE (Revolutionary Innovation for Sustainable Engines). You will be a key member of a team of technologists and engineers at GE Aerospace Research collaborating with the GE Aerospace business teams to deliver on our commitment to sustainability, safety and quality for our customers while advancing aerospace and defense for future generations.Roles and ResponsibilitiesApply your knowledge in computational aerodynamics / aeroacoustics / aeromechanics to develop innovative aerothermal-mechanical solutions for aircraft engine technologies.Specifically, apply your expertise in design and Large Eddy Simulation (LES) to execute modeling and simulation studies and analyses to extract and provide insights into key flow physics; compare against RANS, provide design guidance, and develop/update best practicesTechnical leadership of a discipline or sub-discipline of global teams on multi-generational technology programs to enable future design advancements, while independently executing tasks leveraging your technical skills. Lead and deliver on technical projects with set timelines and cost, implement plans to meet technical requirements and assure proper documentationNetwork and collaborate with both GE Aerospace business and research team members across multiple global teams to identify and shape opportunities for innovation, build plans for technical projectsServe as a technical expert in the discipline/sub-discipline, and guide, mentor and coach members of the team to help meet program deliverables and objectivesRequired QualificationsPh.D. in Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering specializing in Computational Turbomachinery Aerodynamics with Aeromechanics and / or Aeroacoustics with 10-12 years of experience OR M.S in Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering specializing in Computational Turbomachinery Aerodynamics with Aeromechanics and / or Aeroacoustics with at least 12-15 years of experience in applied researchFundamental knowledge in turbomachinery aerodynamics / aeromechanics / aeroacoustics and relevant computational expertiseDemonstrated experience in using Large Eddy Simulation (LES) with in-house industrial or academic codes or in-commercial CFD codesProgramming skills [Python / MATLAB / FORTRAN /C /C++]Oral and written communication skills, including excellent presentation skillsDemonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teamsDemonstrated project planning and execution rigorDesired CharacteristicsExperience in turbomachinery aerodynamics / aeromechanics / aeroacousticsExperience in unsteady computational aerodynamics \xe2\x80\x93 URANS and LES modelling and applications; LES code development would be a plusExperience in using large computer clusters to run large simulationsProgramming skills in Python/MATLAB/FORTRAN/C/C++Experience in detailed modeling of turbomachinery components (fans, compressor, turbines, inlets and exhausts)Hands-on experience in designing fans, compressors and/or turbines, at various levels of fidelityExperience in performing design trade-off studies and design optimization * Humble: respectful, receptive, agile, eager to learn
