The Echo Technician is responsible for operating echocardiography equipment to perform diagnostic examinations of the heart. This role involves preparing patients, conducting ultrasound scans, capturing clear and accurate images, and assisting physicians in diagnosing cardiovascular conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
• Patient Preparation: Prepare patients for echocardiographic procedures, explaining the process, answering questions, and positioning them correctly to obtain optimal images.
• Image Acquisition: Operate ultrasound equipment to perform echocardiograms, including transthoracic (TTE) and transesophageal (TEE) echocardiograms.
• Image Analysis: Capture and analyze images of the heart's structure and function, ensuring high-quality and diagnostically useful images.
• Collaboration: Work closely with cardiologists and other healthcare professionals to provide accurate and timely diagnostic information.
• Equipment Maintenance: Regularly check and maintain ultrasound equipment to ensure it is in proper working condition.
• Documentation: Accurately record patient information, procedure details, and preliminary findings in the patient's medical record.
• Compliance: Adhere to established safety, privacy, and compliance protocols, including patient confidentiality and infection control standards.
• Continuing Education: Stay updated with the latest echocardiography techniques, technologies, and best practices through continuous education and training.
