Job overview and responsibilities

United Airlines\xe2\x80\x99 Customer Technology Platform department partners with business and technology leaders across the company to create services and applications across key airline functionalities such as Booking, Check-in, Payment, Reservation systems and Operational Systems to help support the commercial and digital Channels of United.

As a senior software developer, you will be responsible for the development of mission critical applications, while working with a team of developers. You will design, develop, document, test and debug new and existing applications. Additionally, as a senior developer, you will build these applications with a focus on delivering cloud-based solutions. The individual will use leading edge technologies and enterprise grade integration software daily. You will be relied upon to help take this team to the next level from a technological standpoint.

Participate in full development life cycle including requirements analysis and design

Serve as technical expert on development projects

Write technical specifications based on conceptual design and stated business requirements

Support, maintain, and document software functionality

Identify and evaluate new technologies for implementation

Analyze code to find causes of errors and revise programs as needed

Participate in software design meetings and analyze user needs to determine technical requirements

Consult with end user to prototype, refine, test, and debug programs to meet needs

Recognized as expert in field, knowledgeable of emerging trends and industry practices

Conducts the most complex and vital work critical to the organization

Works without supervision with complete latitude for independent judgment

May mentor less experienced peers and display leadership as needed

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Management Information Systems and/or equivalent work experience
• 6+ years of experience in design, development, documenting, testing, and debugging of new and existing software systems and/or applications for market sale or large-scale proprietary software for internal use

o Hands-on experience on business process development & Integration using IBM ODM, BPM, ORM Framework, Spring Boot Micro Services and Web development using Java/J2EE Technologies.

o Experience in Microservices Architecture with Spring Boot and Docker

o Extensively worked through all phases of Business Rule Management life cycle (BRMS) and gained strong experience in areas like Business rule application development.

• Integration of business rules, validation and deployment into the enterprise applications enabled for business users using ODM and Java technology.
• Experience in developing IBM WebSphere LOG JRules/WODM based applications.
• Experience in writing Business Rules using IBM WebSphere ILOG JRules/WODM
• Experience in IBM WebSphere ILOG JRules/WODM Tools which includes Rules Studio (RS), Rule
• Execution Server (RES), Rule Team Server (RTS), and Decision Validation Service (DVS).
• Experience in Creating Rule Projects, BOM-XOM mapping, Rule Solutions for Office and creating Virtual functions.
• Experience on configuring the JMS queues in the WebSphere and configuring the Message Driven Bean\xe2\x80\x99s to listen to the JMS queues
• Experience developing application code and unit tests in Java, Spring (Boot, Data, Batch, Security)
• Working experience with any in-memory or NOSQL Database
• Proficiency with GITHUB
• Working experience on DevSecOps concepts such as integrating security scans in the build/deploy workflows
• Migration experience on AWS is strongly preferred
• Strong object-oriented design skills and the ability to analyze requirements and transform into scalable software designs using patterns and standard processes
• Communication Skills- The ability to communicate verbally and in writing with all levels of employees and management, capable of successful formal and informal communication.
