The Opportunity:

Database Administrator is responsible for managing the maintenance and security of the databases. The person will be working closely with our Software Development teams, System Owners and Business Owners to ensure that database solutions are optimized for performance, backed up appropriately, updated regularly and meet compliance objectives.





Roles & Responsibilities:

• Configure and maintain mission critical production database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security. The databases will be in Azure SQL instance so should have deep knowledge of that .
• Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end.
• Review all existing DB maintenance plans(or the lack of it) and update accordingly (like FB fragmentation, and optimum indexes among others)
• On-call support for Sev-1 issues related to databases
• Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours.
• You should be able to operate fully independent in terms of the DB and DBA tasks



Required Competencies:

• Have 8+ years of experience in SQL & No-SQL Server database.
• Very good knowledge of T-SQL. Should be able to review stored procedures code. Assist developers with complex query tuning and schema refinement
• Have very strong knowledge and experience of scaling databases - vertical and horizontal; setting up primary and secondary DB and syncing process; setup of read-only secondary DB
• Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools
• Experience with backups, restores and recovery models
• Experience in the setup of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server
• Experience in setup, maintenance and tuning of No-SQL databases - preferable - Mongo DB and Azure Cosmos DB
• Excellent written and verbal communication; must be able to articulate and summarize troubleshooting results and proposed solutions
• Team player and "own it" mentality
• Proactive in terms of finding and suggesting improvements to existing setup, performance optimizations and DB Security
• Highly flexible in terms of off-hours support(for Sev-1 type situations)
