We have 1,700 clients, make \xc2\xa3160 billion worth of payments through our systems every year, look after pension schemes for 20% of all pension scheme members in the UK, and provide services which touch 28 million consumers.We employ over 4,300 people across 31 locations and our average length of service of our employees is 10 years.Equiniti is a rapidly changing, ambitious and dynamic business and we look to employ people who, like us, put the customer at the heart of everything they do.Department InformationThe IT Department at Equiniti underpins all Equiniti Group functions across all business divisions and supports all the following areas: management of the business system data including our Disaster Recovery systems; provision and management of new IT infrastructures; support and maintenance for new and existing IT infrastructures; integrity and control of business data held on the IT infrastructure; management of the internal and external e-mail systems; control and support of companywide Internet access; ensuring business data is backed up and securely held off-site; provision of Network security including anti-virus/Spam management; provision and management for business to business connectivity (VPN); provision and control of all desktop / laptops, mobile devices and Telephony service management and change.Role SummaryThe Senior DB2 LUW DBA will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, performance, production and development support of critical DB2 LUW RDBMS systems, to ensure the availability and consistent performance of our corporate applications. This is a hands-on position requiring solid technical skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills.The successful candidate will be responsible for the deployment and sustainment of all elements of DB2 LUW 11.1, ensuring its operational readiness (security, health and performance), executing data loads, and support of multiple development teams. The databases maintained support an enterprise suite of application and management tools. Must be capable of working independently and collaboratively.Core Duties/ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Manage DB2 LUW servers and databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems
  • Configure, maintain and automate database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security
  • Independently analyse, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end
  • Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes
  • Assist developers with complex SQL query tuning using monitoring tools
  • Provide production support for production processes written in DB2 SQL.
  • Provide 24x7 support for critical production systems (upon request)
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours
  • Share domain and technical expertise, providing technical mentorship and cross-training to other peers and team members
  • Own the Databases and configuration; know which components consume the data e.g. applications etc.
  • Be aware of database dependencies
The role is based in our Bangalore or Chennai office, the working hours are based on a US working day. There will also be a requirement to participate in a call out rota, and for completing some activities outside of business hours where they may be service affecting.Skills, Knowledge & ExperienceThe successful candidate will demonstrate the following experience, skills and behaviours:
  • 6+ years DB2 LUW Administration experience required
  • Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools
  • Experience with backups, restores and recovery models
  • Strong knowledge of Clustering, High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for DB2 LUW
  • Strong knowledge of Data Encryption (at rest and in transit) for DB2 LUW
  • Strong knowledge of DB2 SQL and Sourced Stored Procedures
  • Knowledge of Toad for DB2 and IBM Client tools
  • Strong knowledge of Linux and DB2 User Access Security, Groups and Roles
  • Experience with Database Design
  • Experience with MS Powershell, Bash, VB Script etc.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
