About the role:The Data Engineer is a critical role in the production of data for operations and actionable insights. The Data Engineer designs, develops, automates and supports the applications used to extract, transform and load data from operational systems and other sources to the enterprise data platform for onward consumption by business users, data scientists and other applications.We are seeking a motivated data engineer, who will contribute to deliver end to end data pipelines to productive environments, working in tight partnership with peers, internal experts, and business clients to support, organize and lead various activities within the teamKey tasks:

• Understand business requirements and convert into technical specifications
• Understand end to end application & integration landscape
• Build data pipelines to ingest data from source to enterprise data platforms
• Design & build data models across multiple relational databases
• Be the subject matter expert for data and integration related topics
• Build up sustainable relationships with key business and IT stakeholders in order to become a trusted partner along with the product owner
• Meet with business stakeholders, understand the requirements and advise on efficient solutions
• Ensure timely customer communication and coordination of follow-up activities
• Apply and implement Agile Scrum and DevOps standard methodologies while driving the initiative forward
• Apply industry standard methodologies for data pipeline development

Your main responsibilities are:

• As a Data Engineer for digital solutions, you contribute by:

• Collaborating with the product owner to build a target architecture for the products in scope of the team and to determine how we can improve business processes and generate value.
• Advise on design practises needed for the squad on developing, integrating, managing digital solutions, services and reducing technical debts
• Collaborating with Engineering leads to ensure design decisions are aligned for the product area
• A key member in squad and help the Product Owner to foster an agile mentality.

About the team:

• The role is in the Integration team of the Data & Analytics Product Area which is developing and operating state of the art integrations at the Finance Division of Swiss Re.
• The integration team is globally distributed with the Produce Owner based in Bangalore and focuses on building and operating the future of integration for Finance as Swiss Re.
• The team builds on a lakehouse architecture using Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory and Azure Data Lake (Delta Lake) with Python being the main programming language and PySpark is used for large scale data engineering.

About you:As a successful candidate for this role, you possess

• Bachelor or Master\'s Degree in a relevant quantitative field, e.g. Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Statistics or other is an advantage
• 5 to 8 years of experience in designing and implementing end to end data pipelines & data models
• Strong understanding of data engineering techniques with modern programming languages and analytical frameworks (proficient in Python, PySpark, SQL)
• Proficient in Spark based data lake & extended services like, Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake etc.
• Expertise working with relational databases like Oracle/Azure SQL/ Postgres
• Experience with Integration technologies like REST/SOAP APIs, Event based architecture
• Problem-solving skills and commitment to quality and timely delivery
• Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, including clear articulation of technical topics to a non-technical audience
• A desire to continuously upskill & stay relevant with emerging technologies.
