If so, let's start the conversation.Senior Corporate Counsel, IP & TechnologyThe selected candidate will be responsible for providing support to Iron Mountains fast paced, global organization on a variety of product, technology, and intellectual property issues in support of our digital solutions product incubator, product engineering and innovation teams. The role is focused on balancing risk and optimizing transformative business growth through the negotiation of technology related agreements and advising on the new product development (including product pilots) and launch. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to collaborate with internal business partners, process and retain an understanding of digital technology, business models and objectives, and possess negotiation experience in product and service deals in the digital space.Key Responsibilities:
  • Draft, negotiate and advise the business on a variety of IP and technology legal issues with a focus on technology related agreements from early stage development to product launch and commercialization based on an understanding of the business and customer objectives.
  • Effectively negotiate with clearly and concisely articulated legal and business positions and an ability to discuss directly with customers, vendors and other strategic partners regarding a variety of technology offerings from scanning services to digital products and related professional services.
  • Draft and negotiate technology driven contract templates including provisions covering data use, data licensing, AI/ML, cloud architecture, enterprise platforms, IP ownership, OSS and SaaS.
  • Assist in drafting, maintaining and training others on ancillary strategic materials (such as playbooks and go to market documentation) in relation to new product offerings to maintain standards and uniformity of approach to technology deals across the wider legal team.
  • Thrive in a fast paced environment and working collaboratively with a variety of internal stakeholders including the digital business team, the digital solutions incubator working group, other commercial lawyers advising the business, global contract support, engineering, sales, procurement, information security, risk, privacy & compliance and others.
  • Manage multiple deadlines effectively.
Desired Skills:
  • Experience drafting and negotiating software and related technology agreements combined with a strong knowledge of contract law and intellectual property law.
  • Experience counseling on IP issues, particularly in the space of software, cloud, AI/ML and other digital technology, including SaaS, software development, and data processing.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify issues from both legal and business perspectives and the ability to clearly and succinctly articulate solutions through a pragmatic business oriented lens.
  • Strong problem solving capability, and ability to handle ambiguity, particularly as it relates to the evolving landscape of technology, and shifting priorities with flexibility and a pragmatic approach.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teams from across the globe and experience working with and managing external counsel, as needed.
Requirements:
  • A Juris Doctor degree (or international equivalent) from an accredited law school
  • Qualified and admitted to practice law in local jurisdiction
  • No fewer than 8 years of related law firm or corporate in-house experience
  • Functional knowledge and skills demonstrated in the following areas:
  • IP, commercial or technology transactions;
  • Commercialization of SaaS and other software solutions;
  • Negotiation and drafting of a variety of technology transactions;
  • Privacy and data security issues; and
  • Managing numerous matters on tight deadlines.
