The role of the Senior Cloud Engineer
Join our team as a Senior Engineer, where you\'ll be at the forefront of designing and delivering sophisticated, high-performance, highly available container-based solutions at scale. We seek a leader with a unique blend of development, architecture, and operational expertise, ready to drive our runtime engineering platform team towards excellence.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Architecture and Design:

• Architect and maintain a dynamic runtime environment supporting current and future requirements, including legacy, edge, and transitional patterns.
• Ensure the cloud implementation is adaptable over time to meet changing requirements.
• Drive high-level architecture designs and technology roadmaps aligned with release goals.

2. Team Development:

• Mentor junior team members, fostering a collaborative environment.
• Set clear goals and implement strategies effectively.
• Engage in strategic thinking and apply it to technical decisions.
• Participate in hiring panels and represent the team at external technology events and conferences.

3. Cross-Functional Collaboration:

• Collaborate with various stakeholders (infrastructure, application, and corporate teams) to ensure runtime meets diverse requirements.
• Work closely with the core developer platform team to support new features.

4. Innovation and Best Practices:

• Develop Proof of Concepts (POCs) for strategic technology solutions.
• Define and implement engineering best practices, measuring adoption across the team.
• Drive technical conversations with platform teams.

Key Skills:

• Technical Expertise:
• Proficient in at least two cloud platforms, including Azure, AWS, or Google.
• Expertise in infrastructure components (DNS, CDN, Cloud Networking, etc.).
• Proficiency in open-source technologies (Consul, Vault, Kubernetes, Istio, Prometheus, etc.).
• Deep understanding of Kubernetes; CKA/CKAD certification is a plus.
• Experience in programming (Golang, Java).
• Broad knowledge of software development lifecycle, microservices, and distributed cloud-based services.

- Proficiency with Linux based OS\'s is a plus

• System Design:
• Experience in designing scalable cloud infrastructure with a focus on Kubernetes as the container orchestrator.
• Strong grasp of microservice architectures and composability.
• Knowledge of Domain Driven Design, CQRS, Event Sourcing, and Event Driven Architecture.
• Leadership and Collaboration:
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to work in a matrix environment.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Customer-focused with a strong feedback loop.
• Agile and adaptable to change and ambiguity.
• Experience working with offshore teams and understanding of test-driven development approaches.

Qualifications:

• Extensive experience in engineering roles with direct accountability to senior management.
• Demonstrable experience in complex project design and delivery.
• Proven track record of innovative problem-solving and "getting things done".
• Relevant certifications and experience in related technologies are highly regarded.
• High integrity and strong work ethic are essential.
