The Senior Barista is responsible for leading the barista team in delivering exceptional customer service and high-quality coffee beverages. This role involves overseeing daily operations, ensuring consistency in product quality, and providing training and support to junior baristas. The Senior Barista is also responsible for maintaining a clean and efficient work environment and upholding the cafe's standards and policies.
Key Responsibilities:
• Customer Service:
• Greet and interact with customers in a friendly and professional manner.
• Take and process orders accurately and efficiently.
• Address customer inquiries and resolve complaints promptly.
• Coffee Preparation:
• Prepare and serve a variety of coffee and espresso drinks, including specialty beverages.
• Ensure consistency in the quality and presentation of all drinks.
• Maintain knowledge of coffee brewing methods, equipment, and coffee bean profiles.
• Team Leadership:
• Lead and motivate the barista team, promoting a positive and collaborative work environment.
• Provide training and mentorship to new and junior baristas.
• Schedule shifts and manage staff coverage to ensure optimal operation.
• Operations Management:
• Oversee daily cafe operations, including opening and closing procedures.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and food hygiene standards.
• Manage inventory levels, order supplies, and monitor stock rotation.
• Quality Control:
• Perform regular quality checks on coffee beverages and equipment.
• Calibrate coffee machines and grinders to maintain product quality.
• Implement and uphold cafe standards and procedures.
• Financial Responsibilities:
• Handle cash transactions, process payments, and balance the cash register.
• Monitor sales and assist in achieving financial targets.
• Prepare and submit daily sales reports.
• Maintenance and Cleanliness:
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including coffee machines, counters, and seating areas.
• Perform routine equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Ensure proper waste disposal and recycling practices.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in hospitality or a related field is a plus.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a barista, with at least 1 year in a senior or supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of coffee brewing techniques and equipment.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Leadership and team management abilities.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
• Basic math skills for cash handling and inventory management.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Physical Requirements:
