We have an exciting opportunity available for a Senior Automation Engineer to join the team and take a crucial role in the global software team. Based in Chennai, this role will include working in state-of-the-art automated laboratories around the world. These laboratories are designed to run 24/7 for 365 days a year. And some of the key benefits are greater throughput, better workplace ergonomics, and safety for the operators. This role is responsible for the establishment and support of the control system in an automated laboratory (for both greenfield and brownfield projects). This role requires both domestic and international travel, so the successful incumbent must be available for travel at short notice. Your responsibilities : Program/configure/debug/test HMI, PLC, Robot (RAPID) and Control System (Prepmaster, Control-Track Sample Manager). Combination of Onsite installation and commissioning of new systems, troubleshooting existing installations remotely or in the field and Perth-based customer support and project work. Support R&D, roster program and on-call support for critical systems Assist proposal team with review of customer specifications, suggest existing and new technical solutions Play a key role by participating in Factory Acceptance Testing Work with our customers, partners, vendors and manufacturers Supports technical development of members within the team Ensure continuous improvement in equipment, work processes and systems by identifying and logging opportunities for improvement and promoting and supporting team-based initiatives for improvement Understand and comply with Health Safety and Environment Policy requirements What you bring : At least 6 years of experience in a similar field guideline Ownership and responsibility as the lead automation engineer Knowledge of process plant design Ability to contribute to the software team through critical thinking and applying engineering knowledge and/or experience Tertiary Qualification in Electrical / Control System / Mechatronic Engineering or scientific discipline of electronics or mechatronics Mechanical, electrical and software troubleshooting ability. Strong experience in configuration, programming and commissioning of PLCs (Siemens S7 preferred), variable speed drives, barcode scanners and safety devices Strong experience in SCADA\'s preferably Siemens WINCC & SQL Strong experience in robotics (ABB, Mitsubishi, Epson) Strong experience in Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) Ability to work in a team or individually on multiple concurrent projects. Willingness to learn and undergo job-specific training (e.g. software/project/sampling) Demonstrated ability to deliver in a fast-paced, changing environment while maintaining a high attention to detail. Strong communication and documentation skills Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
