About the roleFinding better ways to provide the materials the world needs.We are looking for a Senior Advisor Project Accountant to join our small finance team based in our Gurgaon offices on a permanent full-time basis. In this role you will be responsible for completion of project cost accounting activities and monthly deliverables in support of Development Capital projects and studies.What the role entailsReporting line: Manager, Project AccountingScope: Your scope will include (but not limited to) below:
Lead a small team, managing the day-to-day accounting and finance requirements for successful delivery of major capital studies and projects.
Ensure day-to-day Project Accounting activities are performed in accordance with established SLAs and processes and with quality, which includes performing quality checks.
Gain knowledge on end-to-end finance processes supported by Group Services and act as an SME to identify gaps and drive improvements: Major focus on Purchase to Pay, General Accounting & Reconciliations.
Learn key standard processes and controls related to Capital Projects and assist with providing financial guidance.
Contributing to implement and then monitoring process specific metrics to ensure quality standards are adhered to.
Contribute to immediate day-to-day issues containment and to their long-term resolution in coordination with other teams.
Liaise with stakeholders as necessary: Project Teams including Managing Consultants, Business Units, IT, Compliance teams.
Prepare/provide formal feedback to customers on escalated issues. Includes root cause analysis.
Ensure documentation (policies, procedures etc.) is appropriately maintained on all activities.
Monitoring and managing supplier payment on time metrics contributing to group targets and initiatives.
Monitoring and supporting team with month end activities including preparing reports, variance analysis, posting journals and accruals.
Managing the reconciliation process between Rio Tinto accounting systems and the Project Controls management tools.
Creation and ongoing validation of project WBS structures in SAP.
Manage project cost closeouts and finalisation of all open commitments.
Create, report and follow up on key operational KPIs on our delivery projects and activities.
Work in partnership with project stakeholders to provide advice on cost accounting issues and ensure expectations are met.
Support the Manager Project Accounting in various Group Services improvement initiatives.
About YourselfWe are looking for passionate candidates having:Education / Professional Experience
Bachelor\'s or master\'s degree in accountancy.
Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in a similar role - All other pertinent experience and training will also be considered. At least 5 years of experience working in a global organization across geographies.
Experience with leading a team.
Experience within and/or exposure to shared services (captive or outsourced) will be an asset.
Technical Skills
At least 5-6 years of hands-on experience in SAP is must.
Strong subject matter expertise & knowledge of finance ERPs (SAP) and business processes such as General Accounting, Closing & Reporting, Fixed Asset Accounting, Balance Sheet Reconciliations etc.
An understanding of end-to-end Purchase to Pay process.
Strong technical skills in MS Office suite, Power BI, Power Apps will be a plus.
