Job Overview:
A Senior Accountant who is responsible for overseeing and managing various accounting functions, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data and reports. The role involves preparing financial statements, assisting with audits, maintaining general ledgers, reconciling accounts, and providing support in budgeting and forecasting processes. Key Responsibilities:
• Financial Reporting:
• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Ensure timely and accurate closing of monthly and year-end financial statements.
• Monitor compliance with accounting standards (e.g., GAAP, IFRS) and company policies.
• Assist in the preparation of reports for management, including financial analysis and variance analysis.
• General Ledger Management:
• Oversee the daily operations of the general ledger, ensuring accurate posting of transactions.
• Perform monthly reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts.
• Ensure proper classification of revenue, expenses, and other transactions.
• Account Reconciliation:
• Conduct bank reconciliations, intercompany reconciliations, and other account reconciliations to ensure data accuracy.
• Investigate and resolve any discrepancies or irregularities.
• Internal Controls and Compliance:
• Assist in developing and maintaining strong internal controls and procedures to ensure financial integrity.
• Ensure compliance with tax regulations, financial reporting requirements, and internal policies.
• Audit Support:
• Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits and assist with audit inquiries.
• Prepare necessary documentation and schedules for the audit process.
• Budgeting & Forecasting:
• Assist in the preparation and analysis of the company's budget and forecasts.
• Provide variance analysis and help management with financial planning.
• Tax Reporting and Compliance:
• Assist with the preparation of tax returns (sales tax, income tax, etc.).
• Ensure that tax filings are accurate and submitted on time.
• Team Leadership & Mentoring:
• Mentor and guide junior accountants or accounting assistants.
• Provide training on accounting processes and systems as needed.
• Other Duties:
• Special projects as assigned, including process improvements and system upgrades.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of accounting regulations and trends.
Qualifications:
Education:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).
Experience:
• 3-5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a senior accounting role.
• Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
• Previous experience with financial statement preparation and analysis.
• Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, Oracle) and MS Excel.
Skills & Competencies:
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP or IFRS).
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail and high degree of accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
