Job Title: Senior Accountant Location: Chennai Job Type: Full-time Job Summary: The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing and overseeing financial records, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with accounting principles and regulations. This role involves preparing and reviewing financial statements, managing the general ledger, and providing support for project budgeting and forecasting. The Senior Accountant also assists with audits and may supervise junior accounting staff. Key Responsibilities: 1. Financial Reporting:
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in
accordance with accounting standards.
Assist with the consolidation of financial statements, if applicable.
Ensure compliance with regulatory reporting requirements.
2. Accounting Processes:
Manage the general ledger and chart of accounts.
Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
Oversee the month-end and year-end close processes.
Review and approve journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
3. Audit and Compliance:
Support internal and external audits, including providing necessary documentation
and explanations.
Monitor compliance with internal controls and policies.
Participate in risk assessments and recommend improvements to internal controls.
4. Budgeting and Forecasting:
Collaborate with other departments to create and maintain budgets and forecasts.
Analyze budget-to-actual variances and provide insights to management.
5. Tax Compliance:
Assist with tax planning and preparation, ensuring compliance with local, state, and
federal regulations.
Work with tax advisors and external consultants, as needed.
6. Process Improvement:
Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies in accounting
operations.
Implement new accounting systems or software as needed.
7. Team Collaboration and Leadership:
Mentor and guide junior accountants and other finance team members.
Collaborate with other departments to support business initiatives.
8. Projects Finance:
Assist with projects reports as requested by management, such as financial analysis
and strategic planning and prepare project report for fund raising. Qualifications:
Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s or Master degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; a master\xe2\x80\x99s
degree is a plus.
Professional certifications such as Chartered Accountant (CA Inter) are highly
desirable.
5 to 8 years of experience in accounting, preferably with 1 to 2 years in senior role
Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Experience in dealing directly with statutory authorities
