The basic responsibilities of security guards include: Surveillance: Security guards are responsible for monitoring and observing their assigned areas to detect any suspicious activities or potential security breaches. They use surveillance equipment such as cameras, alarms, and access control systems to maintain a safe environment. Access Control: Security guards control the entry and exit of individuals and vehicles to restricted areas. They verify the identity of individuals, check credentials, and enforce entry protocols to prevent unauthorized access. Patrolling: Guards conduct regular patrols to ensure the security of the premises. They walk or drive around designated areas, inspecting doors, windows, and other access points for signs of tampering or potential vulnerabilities. Emergency Response: In the event of an emergency situation such as a fire, medical incident, or security threat, security guards are trained to respond quickly and appropriately. They may provide first aid, evacuate people, or coordinate with emergency services. Incident Reporting: Security guards maintain detailed logs and reports of incidents, disturbances, or suspicious activities that occur during their shifts. These reports serve as important documentation for investigations and future security measures. Customer Service: Security guards often act as a visible deterrent and provide assistance to visitors, employees, or customers. They may answer questions, provide directions, and offer general assistance to maintain a positive and safe environment. Alarm Response: Security guards are trained to respond to alarms promptly. They investigate the cause of alarms, assess the situation, and take appropriate action, such as contacting law enforcement or initiating emergency protocols.
