Job Summary:

The Second Class Boiler Field Operator is responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting boiler systems and related equipment. This role ensures the continuous and efficient operation of boilers, adhering to safety standards and operational guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

• Boiler Operation :
• Operate and monitor boilers, turbines, and auxiliary equipment.
• Adjust controls to generate specified amounts of steam or hot water.
• Start and shut down boilers as required.
• Maintenance and Inspection :
• Perform routine maintenance on boilers and related equipment.
• Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations and operational standards.
• Identify and address potential issues before they become major problems.
• Safety and Compliance :
• Follow all safety protocols and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Maintain logs and records of operations, maintenance, and safety checks.
• Troubleshooting :
• Diagnose and resolve issues with boilers and auxiliary equipment.
• Coordinate with maintenance and engineering teams for repairs and upgrades.
• Respond to emergency situations effectively and efficiently.
• Documentation and Reporting :
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of boiler operations, maintenance activities, and safety inspections.
• Prepare reports for management on the status of boiler operations and any incidents or issues.
• Training and Development :
• Stay updated on the latest developments in boiler technology and safety regulations.
• Participate in training sessions and workshops as required.
• Mentor and guide junior operators and apprentices.

Qualifications:

• Education :
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Technical training in boiler operation and maintenance is preferred.
• Experience :
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in boiler operation or a related field.
• Licenses/Certifications :
• Valid Second Class Boiler Operator License.
• Additional certifications in safety and equipment operation are advantageous.
• Skills :
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent understanding of boiler systems and auxiliary equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and blueprints.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.

Working Conditions:

• May be required to work in shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Work environment includes exposure to high temperatures, loud noises, and potentially hazardous conditions.
• Must be able to lift heavy objects and work in confined spaces.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand, walk, and climb for extended periods.
• Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
• Capability to lift and carry heavy objects.
