Job Summary:

The Seam Welder is responsible for joining metal parts together along seams using welding techniques. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of welding processes to ensure the integrity and strength of the final product.

Key Responsibilities:

• Welding Operations: Perform seam welding operations on various metal components using appropriate welding machines and techniques, such as spot welding, seam welding, and projection welding.
• Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine welding requirements and specifications.
• Preparation: Prepare metal surfaces by cleaning, aligning, and clamping parts to ensure proper fit and alignment before welding.
• Quality Control: Inspect welded joints for defects, such as cracks or incomplete fusion, and ensure that they meet specified quality standards and tolerances.
• Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and calibrate welding equipment and tools, ensuring they are in good working condition and performing routine inspections and repairs as needed.
• Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety procedures and protocols to ensure a safe working environment, including wearing protective gear and following proper handling procedures for hazardous materials.
• Documentation: Keep detailed records of welding processes, material usage, and inspection results for quality control and reporting purposes.
• Collaboration: Work closely with other team members, including engineers and fabricators, to ensure that welding tasks are completed efficiently and to specification.

Qualifications:

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in welding is preferred.
• Experience: Previous experience in seam welding or a similar welding role is highly desirable.
• Skills:
• Proficiency in seam welding techniques and equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
• Strong attention to detail and precision.
• Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
• Basic knowledge of metallurgy and welding safety standards.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and move heavy metal components.
• Capability to work in various physical positions, including standing, crouching, and bending.
• Comfortable working in environments with varying temperatures and conditions.

Working Conditions:

• Work is typically performed in industrial settings, such as factories or workshops.
• The role may involve exposure to welding fumes, noise, and other environmental factors common in welding operations.
