IAVI is seeking a highly motivated detailed oriented Scientist to coordinate and ensure scientifically robust execution of projects in alignment with project leads and the scientific Program Lead at IAVI, India and Director, IAVI-NAC The projects will be on HIV-1, COVID-19 and other priority disease areas of the laboratory The Scientist coordinates and works with the team identifying technical gaps and work with NAC in troubleshooting for high-quality outputs The Scientist plans and leads expansion of scientific research in areas of B-cell immunology, preclinical and clinical assay development in alignment with ATRPs and IAVIs scientific mandate The Scientist has a strong immunology background, experienced in relevant lab techniques, and is well published with substantial post-PhD experience Help IAVI translate science into global health impact and apply today! Key Responsibilities: Lead in defining and developing new research proposals in the area of B-cell immunology in alignment with ATRPs scientific mandate, and execution of the projects with internal / external teams or collaborators Contribute to the management of new research grants in the area of B cell immunology Execute on multi-color flowcytometry with advanced proficiency Lead development, optimization, qualification, and validation of B-cell assays Contribute to transfer of technical methodologies/assay related to B-cell immunology to other sites and/or cross-functional internal or external groups as required Coordinate and enable robust execution of ATRPs research projects through defining project scope, developing, and executing experimental plans, evaluating and interpreting data, and presenting scientific data in coordination with project leads and the scientific leadership at IAVI and NAC Ensure overall quality of scientific outputs of the projects by troubleshooting of assays/protocols, optimization of standard operating process and review of scientific data to meet global standards in coordination with project leads and the scientific leadership at IAVI and NAC Mentoring and training of junior research associates Work in close partnership and coordination with translational research and product development teams at IAVI Education and Work Experience: PhD in Immunology or a related discipline is required. Minimum 4 years of work experience post PhD with focus on immunology, vaccine research with high quality publications, is required. Experience in vaccine or, clinical research, or product development is highly desirable. Qualifications and Skills: Experience in B-cell biology, assay development and qualification is required Extensive experience with multi-color flowcytometry with a good understanding on a 3-5 laser Flow cytometry including concepts of machine configuration, designing multi-color staining panels, cell-sorting and intracellular cytokine staining is required Experience of acquiring and analysing multi-parametric flowcytometry data using DIVA, FlowJo, GraphPad (Prism), Microsoft Office tools and other software for data analysis is required In-depth experience with immunological assays such as ELISA, ELISPOT, multiplex assays, and Fc-effector function assays (ADCC, CDC, ADCP) is preferred Single cell RNA sequencing ideally 10x Genomics, as well as high throughput data analysis is highly desirable Experience working with cell culture (mammalian and primary cell lines) is desirable Experience working with bioinformatic platforms (R software, SPSS) is desirable Experience critically assessing data and methods and lead troubleshooting investigations is required Experience in independently handling funded grants/projects is required Must have a good-track of peer-reviewed, high-impact publications in the desired area Ability to project manage effectively including maintenance of laboratory notebooks, computer file organization, data management is required Self-driven, highly motivated and result oriented strategic thinker, with ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced quickly changing environment Interpersonal skills with proven ability to develop relationships and work collaboratively in teams with others from a range of disciplines and cultures is required Excellent written and oral communication is required Experience managing and training people is desirable
