Org Unit Name: Location: India-Bangalore JOB PURPOSE Global Application Technology (GAPT) drives growth for SABIC through application development. This includes working with global customers to identify new application opportunities and coming up with innovative solutions through design, predictive engineering simulations, processing and validation technologies. The new ideas should bring value to targeted automotive and industrial markets. The focus area for this position is innovative application development using thermoplastic-based materials, by leveraging domain knowledge in molding, evaluate through predictive engineering tools and drive for commercialization. The role involves extensive usage of CAE tools such as autodesk moldflow/moldex3D, hyper mesh, and related technologies for mold-filling simulations to develop new applications for specialties business unit. Job Responsibilities
Execute predictive engineering projects in the domain of polymer processing simulations for global customers in diverse applications.
Provide effective solutions for customer applications through domain knowledge in part design, tooling, molding process, extensive use of CAE analysis, evaluate designs & make recommendation to meet the overall objective.
Provide solutions to customer issues, by troubleshooting the problems and develop approaches to solve them through analytical simulations enabling optimum solution and issue resolution within boundary of problem
Planning of projects, work closely with global Field Marketing team and interface seamlessly with global customers ensuring on timely execution of program deliverables.
Proactively work using engineering expertise & exploring multiple options, to provide complete end-to-end solutions.
Exploring innovative design options to meet application requirements with engineering thermoplastics/composites, using multi-disciplinary inputs & to synthesize them into a solution.
Communicate proactively in to all team members, business stakeholders, etc. and have mitigation plans/risk management strategy.
To develop design methodology, material models validation for thermoplastic materials using CAE tools for Mold filling simulation
Develop and guide material characterization and validation methodology for engineering thermoplastic materials including composites.
Experimental validation of simulation results and fine tune the predictive models for better prediction and closely match with reality
Activities related to organizational initiatives & EHS requirements
PhD/MS/ME/M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering/Tool Engineering/ Polymer science/ Polymer Processing or any other related disciplines from premier academic institutions. 8 -12 years experience in design, predictive engineering simulation, tooling, prototype, manufacturing technologies to develop new plastic applications from concept to commercial.
At least 8 to 12 years of experience preferably in plastics application development using various molding processes and Mold filling analysis
Broad technical experience in ideation, design, tooling, predictive engineering simulation, materials and prototyping technologies required for the successful new application development for automotive and industrial markets.
Solid understanding of theory & practical knowledge in material science, finite elements methods, and strength of materials, polymer rheology, processing and related equipments such as injection molding machines, thermoforming, extruders, plastic joining technologies etc.
In depth expertise in mold filling simulations using Moldflow/Moldex3D/or any other software. Also, should be good in results interpretation, optimization and technical report preparation.
Strong in fundamentals of injection molding process and able to independently optimize process parameters based on scientific molding principles. Additional experience in extrusion, blow molding, micro molding, is preferred
Good experience in developing plastic applications for the industries such as automotive, healthcare, consumer electronics, electrical and lighting industries
