Job Description

The Science Mentor (Residential) will play a crucial role in fostering a positive and stimulating educational environment for students. This position involves living on-site and providing academic support, mentorship, and supervision to students outside of regular classroom hours. The mentor will assist students with their science coursework, facilitate study groups, and promote a culture of curiosity and academic excellence.

Academic Support:

• Assist students with science-related coursework and homework.
• Facilitate study sessions and science-related group activities.
• Provide one-on-one tutoring and academic mentorship.
• Help students develop effective study strategies and time management skills.

Mentorship

• Serve as a role model and mentor for students, promoting positive behaviors and attitudes.
• Encourage students' interest in science and guide them in pursuing their academic and career goals.
• Offer emotional support and guidance to students as needed.

Residential Supervision:

• Live on-site and be available to students during evenings and weekends.
• Supervise students' activities and ensure their safety and well-being.
• Enforce residential policies and procedures.
• Organize and oversee recreational and social activities.

Program Development:

• Contribute to the development and implementation of science-related programs and activities.
• Collaborate with other staff members to create a supportive and enriching residential environment.
• Participate in professional development opportunities and training sessions.

Communication:

• Maintain regular communication with students, parents, and other staff members.
• Provide updates on students' progress and any concerns to the appropriate parties.
• Prepare reports and documentation as required.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in a science-related field; advanced degree preferred.
• Experience in teaching, tutoring, or mentoring students.
• Strong knowledge of science subjects and the ability to explain complex concepts clearly.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to live on-site and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive educational environment.
