Oversee the day-to-day operations of the school library, including cataloging books, resources, and materials.
Maintain and update library collections to meet the educational needs of students and faculty.
Ensure the library is well-organized, clean, and a conducive environment for study and learning.
Instruction and Support
:
Provide library instruction to students in areas such as research skills, information literacy, and proper use of resources.
Assist students in locating and utilizing appropriate materials for academic and personal interests.
Collaborate with teachers to integrate library resources into the curriculum and classroom projects.
Book Selection and Acquisition
:
Select, order, and manage a diverse range of age-appropriate books, e-books, and other educational materials for the library.
Monitor library budgets and ensure that funds are used effectively to meet the educational needs of the school community.
Promote Reading and Literacy
:
Organize and promote reading programs, book clubs, author visits, and literacy events to encourage a love for reading among students.
Recommend and provide books for recreational reading to students and staff.
Create displays and resources to highlight books, new arrivals, and topics of interest.
Student and Teacher Support
:
Assist students and teachers with research and project development, helping them navigate digital and print resources.
Provide individual and group support to enhance students' reading and information skills.
Offer technology support and guidance in using the library's digital resources and online databases.
Library Technology and Resources
:
Manage and maintain library technology, including computer systems, online catalogs, and digital resources.
Assist students and staff with using e-books, audiobooks, and other technology-based library materials.
Stay updated on current educational technology trends and integrate them into the library's offerings.
Record-Keeping and Reporting
:
Maintain accurate records of library materials, circulation statistics, and inventory.
Provide regular reports to school leadership on library usage, resources, and ongoing library needs.
Ensure proper record-keeping for borrowed and returned materials, and follow up with overdue items.
Collaboration and Professional Development
:
Work closely with other school staff to ensure that the library is integrated into the broader educational framework of the school.
Participate in professional development to stay informed on the latest trends in library science, literacy, and educational technology.
Engage with the school community through newsletters, library events, and social media to promote library initiatives.
