What success looks like in this role:: SAP Print SME
Configure and manage the SAP printing subsystem for all SAP instances. Transmission Medium:
- Scope: Specify and manage various communication channels for output dispatch.
- Activities: Configuration of transmission methods (like print, fax, email), integration with external systems, and troubleshooting delivery
issues.
Spool and Print Management:Print SME
- Scope: Manage the actual delivery of documents, be it digital dispatch or physical print. - Activities: Monitoring spool requests, managing
printer configurations, troubleshooting print errors, and ensuring timely delivery of outputs.
Participate in the planning and implementation of SAP Printing related upgrades with vendor. Develop and maintain system documentation for
all SAP printing related interfaces. Work closely with Unisys and Client application teams to support the environment in agreed SLAs
Address the print specific use cases
The end user reports Missing Output from SAP (SP01 /SPAD) If the output cannot be found in VPSX (and perhaps reprinted directly from
there if it has been lost or picked up by another user in error), logon to SAP Systems and use SP01 to find out if the user has any jobs in SAP
Spool and troubleshoot if the print jobs were sent to VPSX to an unexpected printer
The end user reports Slow Output from SAP (SM37) - If the output is delayed and the output cannot be found in VPSX, SAP SME-Architect
will log on to SAP Systems and check the queue length to the device (how many jobs are waiting to transfer to VPSX), if the message
Waiting for Formatter is seen, there are not enough spool work processes. A ticket to SAP Basis(Henkel) will be opened and SAP Basis
team will take the ownership.
If the queue length is huge and this occurring more than once, a ticket to SAP Basis team will be opened and SAP Basis team will take the
ownership.
SAP SME s will ask the User if their output is generated from a particular batch job (they must know the name), if they do know the name then
Unisys will check the scheduler SM37 for that job and any output it has generated, or if it has failed. The output may have gone to an
unexpected printer in which case inform the user.
In case and the batch run has failed or produced no output, a ticket to SAP Basis team will be opened and SAP Basis team will take the
ownership
