The Safety Officer will be responsible for ensuring a safe and healthy work environment within the company. This role involves implementing and overseeing safety policies, conducting safety audits, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. The Safety Officer will also be responsible for educating employees on safety protocols and maintaining a culture of safety throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
o Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
o Ensure all safety policies are up-to-date and relevant to the pharmaceutical industry.
o Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of the facility to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
o Prepare detailed reports of audit findings and recommend corrective actions.
o Ensure compliance with all occupational health and safety regulations, including OSHA, GIDC, F&B, WRD, and other relevant local bodies.
o Stay updated with changes in safety regulations and implement necessary adjustments to company policies.
o Develop and conduct safety training programs for employees, including emergency response, hazard communication, and proper use of safety equipment.
o Maintain records of all safety training sessions and ensure employee participation.
o Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine causes and implement preventive measures.
o Prepare incident reports and maintain accurate records of all safety-related incidents.
o Develop and implement emergency response plans and conduct regular drills to ensure employee preparedness.
o Coordinate with local emergency services and ensure proper communication during emergencies.
o Implement health and safety programs, including wellness initiatives, health screenings, and ergonomic assessments.
o Promote a culture of health and safety awareness throughout the organization.
o Oversee the proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials used in the pharmaceutical manufacturing process.
o Ensure compliance with all hazardous materials regulations.
o Ensure the availability, proper use, and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE) and other safety equipment.
o Conduct regular inspections of safety equipment and replace as needed.
o Maintain comprehensive safety records, including audit reports, training records, incident reports, and compliance documentation.
o Prepare and submit safety reports to management and regulatory authorities as required.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a safety officer role, preferably in the pharmaceutical or manufacturing industry.
Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST), or equivalent certification preferred.
In-depth knowledge of safety regulations, standards, and best practices, particularly in the pharmaceutical industry.
