The Rolling Stock & Vehicles Engineer shall have thorough familiarity with vehicle and subsystems design and verification in one or more of the following passenger vehicles, and / or locomotive areas supplied by major subsystem vendors in the rail market: HVAC and Refrigeration design. Door Systems mechanisms and Controls. Couplers and Draft Gear. Bogie and wheel (steel wheel and rubber tire). Fire Safety. Pneumatic and Hydraulic Brake Systems. Cab controls, design, and ergonomics. Interior passenger and dining car furnishings (e.g., Flooring, seats, stanchions, food service, water closets, etc.). Interior and Exterior Lighting Systems. Monitoring and Control Systems including HMI design. Power Supply Systems including HEP, Battery and Charger. Propulsion Systems. Onboard communication systems. Reliability, Availability, Maintenance, Operation and Safety of subsystems. Experience: The Rolling Stock & Vehicles Engineer shall have 8-10 years of experience as below: Experience with all stages of a vehicle procurement program from specification development, design review stages, qualification testing through commissioning. Experience with integrated electro-mechanical systems. Hands-on experience with electro-mechanical systems. Experience interfacing effectively with rail car builders, authorities. Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Experience with either / or rapid transit, light rail, commuter rail, intercity and high-speed rail vehicles. Excellent knowledge of engineering design processes and procedures. Transit maintenance and operations experience. Experience with design reviews PDR, FDR, etc. Broad experience and good theoretical knowledge of engineering principles: Physics. Electrical design. Brake calculations. Air consumption calculations. Thermal calculations. Fluid dynamics. Strength of materials. Proficient in machine design. Manufacturing practices. Value engineering. Other Functions/ Responsibilities: Provide technical support to assignments. Prepare, support, and assess adequacy of subsystem technical specifications. Prepare subsystem function and operation briefing reports. Perform technical reviews subsystem design for transit and railroad fleets. Analyze requirements and requirements parsing and allocation. Prepare subsystem design, analysis, testing procedure and report review comments, including Contract Deliverables. Experience with oversight and witnessing of design documentation, analysis, and testing. Experience/knowledge of monitoring testing and quality activities. Support System integration of vehicle subsystems and complete vehicles from different suppliers for compatibility and functional performance. Assess performance and specification compliance with respect to FRA, APTA, EN and other applicable standards. Perform system performance calculations. Support technical proposals.
