Risk Modeler Agriculture We are looking for a talented and motivated agricultural risk modeler to join our Research department in Hyderabad. In this role, you will create models that capture how extreme weather events affect agroecosystems at different spatial scales, from individual farms to entire countries. You will work with a friendly and supportive team of experts, using the latest scientific data and methods to improve our existing agricultural risk models and develop new ones for crop and livestock systems. About the Day-to-Day Responsibilities of the Role : Identify, Build and Analysis historical and simulated weather datasets. Understand how weather parameters (temperature, precipitation, humidity, and wind speed) vary in space and time and affect agricultural systems. Evaluate cropping systems across India. Develop and test models that estimate agricultural losses due to weather risks and perils. Maintain and update multiple code repositories, data sets, and data archives including version controls, documentation. Present the models and results to non-technical audience. Prepare effective technical and non-technical documents. Deliver high-quality work on time. Qualifications and skills : Ph.D. in (agricultural) meteorology, agronomy, geography, environmental sciences, statistics, or related discipline. Demonstrated ability to learn new concepts and skills and to meet project objectives and deadlines. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong programming skills using open-source programming languages. Experience in mathematical or statistical with applications to agricultural and/or environmental sciences. Experience in using and managing large (GB to TB-scale) datasets with SQL and/or ArcGIS experience a plus. Experience with applications of remote sensing (satellite) data and/or machine learning to agriculture a plus. Experience with climate change and/or weather forecasting models is a plus.
