Job Description



Role Summary:
We are looking for a skilled Rigging Artist with a strong background in character rigging, skinning, and technical animation for video games. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating rigs for a variety of character types, creatures, and mechanical objects, ensuring they are animation-ready and optimized for real-time engines. This role requires a collaborative spirit, technical expertise, and a passion for pushing the envelope in character and creature rigging.

Responsibilities:

• Design, create, and maintain character rigs and skinning for characters, creatures, and assets in Maya & Blender.
• Collaborate with modelers and animators to ensure character rigs meet animation requirements and are optimized for in-game use.
• Develop and maintain tools, scripts, and workflows for character rigging, skinning, and animation in Maya, Blender.
• Work closely with the animation and technical art teams to troubleshoot and improve rigging tools and processes.
• Integrate and test rigs within game engines (e.g., Unity, Unreal Engine) to ensure smooth functionality and proper deformation.
• Ensure rigs are optimized for real-time performance without sacrificing quality.
• Support the art and animation teams by solving technical challenges and enhancing the character pipeline.
• Stay updated on new technologies and rigging techniques to keep our processes cutting-edge.

Requirements:

• Experience: 3+ years of experience as a Rigging Artist in the gaming industry or related fields.
• Technical Skills: Proficient in Maya or Blender, with a strong understanding of rigging, skinning, and blend shapes.
• Scripting Knowledge: Python and MEL scripting experience is a plus for building custom rigging tools.
• Engine Knowledge: Experience with game engines like Unity or Unreal Engine, especially with character setup and animation integration is a plus.
• Problem-Solving Skills: Strong technical troubleshooting skills, with the ability to work collaboratively to find creative solutions.
• Portfolio: A portfolio demonstrating strong rigging and skinning work on a range of characters and creatures, especially for games.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with physics-based rigs and dynamic systems.
• Familiarity with mocap data processing and integration.
• Knowledge of anatomy, character kinematics, and deformation for realistic and stylized characters.
• Experience in developing or working with procedural rigging systems.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ?9,592.71 - ?38,989.49 per month
