Period.RequirementsAbout this roleYou will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing DSP algorithms and firmware for our state-of-the-art RF products and radar systems.

  • Develop and implement real-time DSP algorithms for radar signal processing, including pulse compression, micro-Doppler processing, and target detection.
  • Design and optimize firmware for radar data acquisition, processing, and control.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including RF engineers and software developers, to integrate DSP firmware into the RF hardware system.
  • Perform tests and troubleshoot RF system to ensure functionality and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in RF technology.
Must haves
  • Min. 8-12 years of experience in developing DSP algorithms and firmware, preferably in the context of radar systems.
  • Hands-on experience with Software Defined Radios.
  • Strong understanding of radar signal processing concepts, including Pulse compression, Doppler processing, Beamforming, Angle of Arrival/Estimation, DOA, MIMO & CFARs.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++, Python and MATLAB, with experience in developing real-time embedded firmware.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
Bonus points for
  • Experience in designing and optimizing radar system FMCW chirps.
  • Knowledge of radar architectures, including pulsed, CW, FMCW radars.
  • Experience with specific radar architectures, such as synthetic aperture radar (SAR) or phased array radar.
  • Knowledge of radar performance metrics and analysis techniques, such as signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), probability of detection, and false alarm rate.
  • Familiarity with radar performance metrics, such as range resolution, Doppler resolution, and sensitivity.
  • Familiarity with radar system simulation tools, such as MATLAB Simulink or SystemVue.
  • Experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing and validation of radar systems.

What your first 3 months at Armory will look like30 Days
  • Complete the onboarding process, learn about our mission and values, meet your team, and understand ongoing projects and priorities.
  • Set up your development environment and familiarize yourself with the tools, software, and equipment necessary for radar firmware development and testing.
  • Begin contributing to ongoing projects by assisting with DSP algorithm development, optimization, and testing, focusing on range, micro-Doppler detection and estimation, as well as CFAR techniques.
  • Deploy & test algorithms on Software Defined Radios.
60 Days
  • Collaborate with RF Hardware team to implement firmware
  • Develop and implement real-time DSP algorithms for radar signal processing, focusing on performance optimization and resource efficiency
  • Conduct thorough simulations and analyses to validate and optimize DSP algorithms
  • Showcase a working radar with a short range detection
90 Days
  • Lead the development and implementation of a long range radar.
  • Collaborate with the team to define and execute comprehensive test plans for radar firmware validation, including hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing.
  • Optimize radar firmware performance based on test results and real-world feedback.
  • Identify opportunities for firmware modularity, reusability, and scalability to improve development efficiency and maintainability
  • Ready the code in C for deploying to real hardware.
  • Engage in IP development and patent discussions.
  • Develop a long-term plan for personal growth and development within the company, discussing your career aspirations with the founder.
