The Resource Person - Market Research, will be based in one of our district headquarters and will be in pan-field (CG & JH states) role on building an institutional understanding on markets around rural commodities identified by the Livelihood Initiatives--supporting in sub-sector analysis, market explorations, buyer linkages and creating business opportunities for the smallholder farmers and their collectives.
Responsibilities
• Advising Working Groups in anchoring market research for certain agricultural commodities (such as paddy, livestock, fruit, vegetables, and forest products) in terms of market forecasts, trends, and demand conditions to identify market potential and space for entry.
• Assessing value propositions and areas of intervention through value chain analysis studies and advice for investment in production, processing, cold storage, branding and so on.
• Recommending field teams on possible marketing strategies for input and output services and other agri-business management processes that assures low cost of production and better price realization for produces.
• Supporting other Resources Persons with market intelligence in making informed production choices and business plans for the commercial collectives in accordance with the market realities.
• Exposing the Working Groups to outer world of markets and business case studies so that the WG can make better proposals on technology, management, and policy interventions around--value addition, new product development, market development, branding, promotional events, awareness-raising and so on.
• Scan the business environment and provide the best market intelligence to maximize price realization for the smallholder and remotely located farming communities.
• General responsibilities would include:
• Supporting the leaders in programming livelihood programs based on market realities
• Contribute to the team's capacity building on agribusiness concepts, commodity sectors and rural marketing,
• Assist in preparing contracts, quality parameters, compliances, and other such technical documents based on market standards.
• Participate in meetings and represent the organization in the external forum especially related to market stakeholders.
Education Qualification & Work Experience
• PG/ Master's from a management institute preferably in rural management/agribusiness management.
• Minimum 5 years of work experience in agriculture marketing fields
Requirement
The above responsibilities shall require:
• Significant travel time.
• Proficiency in statistics and data analysis tools.
• Ability to work with diverse actors-- multidisciplinary team members, farmers, bureaucrats, business houses, small traders, etc.
