The successful candidate should have expertise in the area of physical metallurgy of steel with special emphasis on alloying strategies for new steel grade development. Furthermore, the candidate should have sound understanding of the thermomechanical controlled processes, different heat treatment procedures, microstructural analysis using different sophisticated techniques, mechanical property characterization and finally structure-property correlation. Prior research experience in the long product area such as rebars, wires etc. will be given special preference. Responsibilities: 1.New steel grade development using innovative alloying strategies with sound knowledge in physical metallurgy of steel. 2.Conduct experiments in the area of thermomechanical controlled processes. 3.Perform different heat treatment procedures with the objective to arrive at the suitable microstructure. 4.In-depth microstructural analysis using different sophisticated techniques. 5.Mechanical property evaluation and characterization. 6.Establishing structure-property correlation. 7.Ability to engage in hands-on participation and effectively manage time and resources. 8.Collaborate with other researchers of the department and professionals of various other departments such as TG, Operations etc. to develop new steel alloys especially in the long product area with improved properties. 9.Efficiency in addressing and learning new topics and strong technical problem-solving and analytical skills. 10.New steel grade development using innovative alloying strategies with sound knowledge in physical metallurgy of steel. 11.Conduct experiments in the area of thermomechanical controlled processes. 12.Perform different heat treatment procedures with the objective to arrive at the suitable microstructure. 13.In depth microstructural analysis using different sophisticated techniques. 14.Mechanical property characterization. 15.Establishing structure-property correlation.
