Hiring for: Researcher (Economics of Natural Resource Management (NRM) A little bit about who we are WOTR (Watershed Organisation Trust) is a non-profit that is committed to tackling the key causes of rural poverty by rejuvenating ecosystems and building the community\'s resilience to climate change. We do this by enhancing water availability, increasing land and agricultural productivity, diversifying livelihoods, empowering women, strengthening institutions and the health and well-being of vulnerable rural communities. To date we have worked in 10 states in 5107 villages and impacted 4.95 million people in our 30 years of existence. The WOTR Centre for Resilience Studies (W-CReS), initiated in 2007 and established in 2016, is WOTR\'s eminent and autonomous applied research unit. Employing a trans-disciplinary approach, W-CReS conducts multi-stakeholder, applied research on critical, ground-level issues impacting society. W-CReS\' mission is to unravel the causal relationships and drivers of behavioural change, devise and test potent strategies for transformation, and contribute to policy enhancement and capacity building. W-CreS works closely with civil society agencies, businesses, local, state and federal governments to achieve its mission. It has formal MOUs with leading publicly funded research and scientific institutions in India, such as the ICAR, IMD, and CRIDA. It\'s robust research efforts are attested to by over 200 published research papers, impact studies and socio-economic baseline studies of project villages. A brief snapshot of the role: WOTR is seeking a researcher with a PhD or MPhil/MSc in Economics/Agricultural Economics/Environmental Economics and at least 3-7 years of work experience in research on natural resources, agriculture, and climate change. The role involves conducting interdisciplinary research, designing and conducting impact assessment studies, writing scientific reports and policy briefs, collaborating with different teams and institutions, and disseminating research findings. The candidate should have good quantitative and qualitative research skills, excellent communication skills in English and Hindi, and willingness to travel to different project locations for fieldwork. The position is located in Pune, Maharashtra. No. of positions available: 1 As a Researcher (Economics of Natural Resource Management (NRM) you will: Write scientific reports, policy briefs on different studies conducted by WOTR related to Climate Change Adaptation, Integrated Land and Water Management, Economics, Food and Nutrition Security, Biodiversity, others Work in a team (lead or partner) to design and conduct interdisciplinary research including, but not limited to: action research, systematic reviews and other synthesis products and database development Collaborate with different teams, universities, research institutes to undertake various studies Contribute to research papers and articles preferably in peer review journals and publications Disseminate research findings to different stakeholders: village communities and represent WOTR in various workshops, conferences, meetings etc. Design and Conduct impact assessment studies of various project interventions Assist in and also write proposals to various donors and institutes for research funding Apply if you have: PhD / M.Phil/M.Sc. in Economics/Agricultural Economics/ Environmental Economics with broad understanding of agriculture, natural resource, and human development Relevant experience of 7 years (for post-graduates); 5 years (for MPhils); 3 years (for PhDs) of research research in Economics of Natural Resources, Agriculture, and Climate change Well versed with Quantitative Techniques (sampling, Cost-Benefit Analysis, Valuation of Natural Resources, Impact Assessment methodology) The ability to do a good review of literature Good knowledge of policy analysis and quantitative data analysis but should have the flexibility to do qualitative data analysis, too (if required); skill in developing of tools for investigation (quantitative and qualitative) Willingness to Diversify skills and activities in other relevant areas of Economics (as per the need of the organization) Published papers in Peer review journals (preferably having been at least the 2nd author) Good research writing skills Willingness to research with an interdisciplinary team Willingness to travel to different project locations for field work.
