The Research Associate R&D will be responsible for supporting the research and
development of new and existing Surfactants, Sulphonation, home and personal care (HPC)
products. This includes assisting in the formulation, testing, and analysis of products, as well
as ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. As a member of the research and
development team, the Research Associate will be responsible for the operation and
advancement of all analytical instrumentation in support of product development research.
In addition, this position will perform specialized laboratory experiments to test and validate
new technologies. This position reports to the Head of R&D.
Key Responsibilities:
? Support the formulation and development of new Surfactants, Sulphonation and
HPC products including conducting market research and identifying new ingredients
and technologies.
? Develop, organize, and execute laboratory experiments in support of current and
developing product lines and technologies
? Operate, maintain, calibration and troubleshoot all laboratory instrumentation
including GC-FID, and UV, Viscometer, KF etc.
? Technical skills in applying scientific principles to solve new problems in formulation
area.
? Develop and execute product testing plans, including stability and compatibility
testing, and interpret results.
? Stay up-to-date with new analytical techniques and regulatory limits for
environmental contaminants
? Assist with bench scale product testing relating to specific customer projects. Design,
develop, and characterize novel synthetic products and processes under guidance of
seniors
? Prepare and deliver presentations to internal and external stakeholders to
communicate product development progress and results.
? Product literature search, Maintain accurate records of experiments, procedures,
and results in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs). Document all
procedures, data, and results in notebooks
? Follow laboratory compliance and safety policies.
? Observe, analyse, calculate and evaluate results from laboratory work to improve
processes and communicate data.
Requirements:
• Technical education: M.Sc. (Chemistry) / Chemical Engineering (B Tech).
• Minimum of 5 to 6 years of experience in the field of surfactant, sulphonation, home
and personal care industry, with a focus on research and development products.
• At least 2 years of experience handling with Agilent / Shimadzu GC-FID
instrumentation including maintenance and method development.
• Knowledge and experience in a wide range of wet chemistry laboratory practices
including handling of volatile chemicals.
• Strong analytical skills and experience in product testing and analysis.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication
and interpersonal skills.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications.
