Key Responsibilities

Sort and classify rubies and sapphires based on quality, size, shape, color, clarity, and weight.

Use specialized tools and techniques to assess gemstones accurately.

Ensure proper handling and storage of gemstones to maintain their integrity.

• Apply gemological grading criteria to rubies and sapphires, including examining color saturation, cut quality, clarity, and carat weight.
• Use instruments like a loupe, microscope, and refractometer to analyze the stones.
• Work with specialized color charts and gemstone grading reports to document quality standards.
• Maintain accurate records of sorted gemstones and ensure proper cataloging for inventory control.
• Track the movement of stones within the inventory system.
• Work with clients to help them select rubies and sapphires based on their preferences and needs.
• Provide professional advice on gemstone care and quality differences.
• Inspect stones for flaws, inclusions, and imperfections.
• Ensure that only high-quality gemstones are selected for sale or further processing.
• Maintain high standards for accuracy and consistency in sorting and grading.

Skills & Qualifications :

• Gemological Expertise : Knowledge of gemology, particularly rubies, sapphires, and other precious gemstones.
• Gemstone Grading : Proficient in gemstone grading systems, such as the 4Cs (color, clarity, cut, carat weight), with a specific focus on rubies and sapphires.
• Attention to Detail : Ability to assess stones meticulously and spot subtle differences in quality.
• Experience : At least 2-3 years of experience in gemstone sorting, grading, or jewelry production.
• Tools & Equipment : Familiarity with gemstone grading tools like loupes, microscopes, color grading systems, and refractometers.
