Job Overview TE Connectivity\'s R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products, introduce them into practice. They are responsible for product development, and qualification from market definition through production and release assist in the qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes conduct feasibility studies, testing on new and modified designs direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp. The R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams provide all required product documentation including, but not limited to, Solid Model, 2D/3D production drawings, product specifications, and testing requirements. They create and modify detailed drawings and drafting or conceptual models from layouts, rough sketches or notes and contribute to design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product. Typical fields of expertise include: materials, mechanics and systems, electrical, optics, chemistry, software, automation systems, packaging, testing and measurement, and manufacturing of electrical, mechanical and electronic components, products, and their integration into systems. Roles & Responsibilities What your background should look like: . Bachelor\'s degree or higher in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related. . At least 3+ years of engineering experience focused on design of industrial systems and software. Must have demonstrated experience in the following . Experience in the development of industrial machine software and machine control systems. . Experience with software revision control practices using Git and continuous integration practices. . Experience in working with formal Engineering documentation procedures. . Strong C++ skills, including Object Oriented Analysis and Design. . Familiarity with GUI libraries such as Qt. . Experience in most of the following: o Virtualization using Docker, VMWare, or VirtualBox o Machine to machine communication and interfacing to external systems o Networking principles, configuration, and troubleshooting o Understanding of Operating Systems - Windows, Linux . Experience reading and interpreting mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and circuit diagrams. . Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to interpret data from mechanical systems. Primary Responsibilities: . Develop and maintain machine firmware and software in collaboration with other engineers using revision control, coding standards, and other software development tools. . Responsible for all phases of the development process, from concept, design, through production release for new products. . Interact with customers, vendors, manufacturing, marketing and sales personnel, and other engineering functions as required to support product development. . Handle multiple projects and tasks simultaneously. . Assist in development of project plans, including . Task definition . Resource estimates . Maintain project records, conduct design review meetings, and develop product testing plans. . Support existing product lines by answering technical questions from customers, strategic vendors, factory assembly personnel, and field engineers. . Ability to generate unique and complex technical concepts and explain them in abstract terms to other team members and management, conceive original ideas for new application tooling products and develop them into practical designs. .
