Job Overview

TE Connectivity\'s R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products, introduce them into practice. They are responsible for product development, and qualification from market definition through production and release; assist in the qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes; conduct feasibility studies, testing on new and modified designs; direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp. The R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams provide all required product documentation including, but not limited to, Solid Model, 2D/3D production drawings, product specifications, and testing requirements. They create and modify detailed drawings and drafting or conceptual models from layouts, rough sketches or notes and contribute to design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product. Typical fields of expertise include: materials, mechanics and systems, electrical, optics, chemistry, software, automation systems, packaging, testing and measurement, and manufacturing of electrical, mechanical and electronic components, products, and their integration into systems.

Responsibility

Perform activities concerned with design, development & testing of electro-mechanical components / products / systems for Aerospace & Defense markets

• Conceives original ideas for new products and ability to develop them into practical and economical models. Define specifications, perform engineering analysis, makes preliminary drawings and prove concept in prototypes and testing

• Prepare models for FEA and Signal Integrity analysis
• Applying Geometric Tolerancing and stack-up analysis to designs
• Work closely with the Global Engineering team in the design of new product for global

customers by meeting timelines and providing innovative solutions

• Work closely with the cross functional teams to develop & execute the new product

development

• Keep abreast of new technologies, materials and processes and use the information to

initiate cost saving or product enhancing projects

• Contribute to achieving departmental targets - specifically \xe2\x80\x9cDelivery on Time\xe2\x80\x9d targets for

development and sustaining activities

• Carry out any other reasonable tasks as may be requested from time to time by the

Engineering Manager

• Observe Health and Safety regulations as laid down in company procedures and

Government legislation

Desired Candidate Profile

Bachelor\'s degree or above in Mechanical Engineering

• 5 - 8 years of work experience in New Product Development in Aerospace, Automotive or

Industrial domain industries, preferably connector product background.

• Experience in either PMP or APQP (or any relevant product development process)
• Experience in design tools such as GD&T, DFMEA, DFM, and Tolerance Stack-ups.
• Thorough understanding of manufacturing processes like Molding, Stamping, Plating, other

metal forming and plastic miniaturing processes. Added advantage would be good
knowledge in additive manufacturing process.

• Experience in Product Design involving Plastic and Sheet Metal parts
• Experience in Global certifications and Regulatory Standards (EN, MIL etc.)
• Knowledge of statistical process control methodology, six sigma is an advantage
• Experience in Product testing & qualification
• Exposure & knowledge on electrical system design will be added advantage
• Experience in state-of-the-art design tools such as Creo / CAD tools
• Good knowledge in PDM Windchill & PLM software
