1. Cost Estimation: Assessing and estimating the costs of construction projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and other related expenses. This involves analyzing project plans, specifications, and relevant data to determine accurate cost projections. 2. Cost Planning: Developing detailed cost plans and budgets for construction projects. This includes allocating costs to different project components, preparing cost breakdowns, and establishing cost control measures. 3. Procurement: Advising on procurement strategies and preparing tender documents for the selection of contractors and suppliers. Quantity Surveyors assist in evaluating bids, negotiating contracts, and managing the procurement process to ensure competitive pricing and quality standards. 4. Cost Control: Monitoring project costs throughout the construction phase, identifying potential cost overruns, and implementing measures to control expenses. This involves regular cost reporting, analyzing cost variations, and recommending corrective actions to keep the project within budget. 5. Contract Administration: Administering construction contracts and ensuring compliance with contractual obligations. Quantity Surveyors are responsible for managing variations, claims, and contractual disputes, as well as facilitating payment certification and progress valuations. 6. Financial Reporting: Providing accurate and timely financial reports on project costs, cash flow, and financial performance. Quantity Surveyors prepare cost forecasts, final accounts, and financial summaries for project stakeholders, such as clients, contractors, and investors. Master\'s Degree: Pursuing a master\'s degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field can provide additional specialization and advanced knowledge in the field. It can be advantageous for career advancement and leadership positions. Master\'s degree programs typically take one to two years to complete and may require a bachelor\'s degree in a related field as a prerequisite.
