Department Overview



Consumer and Small Business Banking (CSBB) provides financial services to 21 million retail bank households and three million small business customers through approximately 4,500 retail branches, 17 customer service centers, and approximately 13,000 ATMs in 36 states and the District of Columbia. We serve and help individuals and families in many aspects of their lives, helping them buy homes, open first bank and savings accounts, buy cars to get to and from work or school, and start or grow small businesses. Team Overview - Consumer Data Analytics and AI (CDAI)



The CDAI group works across the Consumer & Small Business Banking (CSBB), Consumer Lending, and Wealth and Investment Management lines of business to develop coordinated strategies for growth in each of Wells Fargo's customer segments. The team is responsible for designing seamless, engaging customer experiences across products and channels, and building the next-generation digital, data and analytics, and functional capabilities required to deliver toward these objectives.

Wells Fargo is seeking a Quantitative Analytics Manager.

In this role, you will: • Manage a team responsible for the creation and implementation of low to moderate complex financial areas
• Mitigate operational risk and compute capital requirements
• Determine scope and prioritization of work in consultation with experienced management
• Participate in the development of strategy, policies, procedures, and organizational controls with model users, developers, validators, and technology
• Make decisions and resolve issues regarding operational risks and enable decision making in business, product, marketing, or other functional areas
• Manage a team comprised of quantitative analysts and credit risk analysts
• Interact with internal and external audit or regulators
• Manage allocation of people and financial resources for Quantitative Analytics
• Mentor and guide talent development of direct reports and assist in hiring talent

Required Qualifications: • 4+ years of Quantitative Analytical experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
• 2+ years of leadership experience
• Master's degree or higher in a quantitative discipline such as mathematics, statistics, engineering, physics, or computer science

Desired Qualifications: • Oversee development of predictive modeling algorithms using statistical tools, statistical modeling, optimization, algorithm development to synthesize large data set
• 12+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: List Management/ Generation, Data Analytics, Strategy, Product & Project Management
• PhD or Masters degree in operations research, applied mathematics, statistics, engineering, physics, accounting, finance, economics, econometrics, computer sciences, or business/social and behavioral sciences with a quantitative emphasis.
• 5+ years of people & stakeholder management experience
• ~10 years advanced programming exposure in SAS or Python including SQL
• ~10 years of experience with relational databases Teradata, Oracle or similar database
• 10-years Banking, Financial Services Industry or Consumer business experience in Marketing & CRM
• Hands on industry experience in building large scale end-to-end machine learning systems using a combination of big data tools and programming languages like Scala, Java and/or Python
• Knowledge of parallel and distributed computing frameworks such as Hadoop, Spark, MPI, using GPUs
• Experience in machine learning areas such as recommender systems, NLP, pattern recognition, predictive modeling, Artificial Intelligence.
• Experience implementing machine learning algorithms such as support vector machines, decision trees, logistic regression, clustering, neural networks, graphical models etc
• Data exploration and preparation using SAS / SQL or R or any statistical tool. At least 3-5 projects with hands-on experience in Data Science (AI, ML, NLP) with demonstrable knowledge of analytical, technical, statistical and foundational aspects
• Experience in managing a team that interfaces with a broad set of stakeholders across the firm and process/project management
• Ability to guide, mentor and provide technical assistance to the team
• Experience in establishing teams and work processes aligned with contemporary agile methodologies such as Kanban or scrum to improve work efficiencies
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate complex ideas in a concise and clear fashion
• Experience building relationships across lines of businesses, influencing partners, as well as providing credible and effective challenge
• Ability to combine a perpetual interest in learning, and deep knowledge of industry best practices/standards to build a world class organization
• Proven track record of developing and leading a team of strong quantitative analysts
• Ability to effectively communicate information to a variety of audiences, and offer thought leadership at a meta level
• Identifies and recommends internal and external data sources, compiles/mines data from multiple, cross business sources; recommends and consults in the development of complex analysis designs
• Ensures adherence to data management/data governance regulations and policies. Data involved may be very large, structured or unstructured, and from multiple sources.
• Persuasive written and verbal communication skills, writing white papers is a plus
• Prior experience of attending prestigious conferences as an attendee or as panelist or speaker is weighed heavily
• Proven experience in innovation, evidenced by successful holding of one or more patents
• Visiting faculty or expert professionals, with the ability to see through the product roadmap for 2 or more years may have an edge in the interview process
