Quality Control Incharge – Lubricant Manufacturing Plant

Job Description

The Quality Control Incharge will oversee all aspects of quality assurance and quality control within a lubricant manufacturing facility. This individual will be responsible for ensuring that the lubricants produced meet the required specifications and regulatory standards, maintaining the quality of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products, while driving continuous improvement in manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Quality Control Management:
• Develop and implement quality control procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor and manage testing of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products to ensure conformity to specified quality standards.
• Perform regular inspections and audits of the production process, identify areas for improvement, and take corrective actions when necessary.
• Lab Operations:
• Supervise and guide the laboratory team in conducting tests on lubricants to assess performance characteristics such as viscosity, flash point, pour point, and oxidative stability.
• Maintain proper calibration of all laboratory equipment and instruments.
• Ensure the laboratory follows Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and safety guidelines.
• Product Release and Documentation:
• Ensure timely and accurate release of finished products based on test results and specifications.
• Maintain detailed records of all quality control tests and inspections conducted, ensuring traceability and compliance with internal and external audits.
• Generate quality reports and analysis for management and stakeholders, highlighting any issues or trends.
• Compliance and Standards:
• Stay up-to-date with relevant quality standards, regulations, and industry best practices (e.g., ASTM, ISO standards for lubricants).
• Work with regulatory agencies to ensure products meet environmental, safety, and health standards.
• Training and Development:
• Train and mentor quality control staff on testing procedures, product standards, and safety protocols.
• Assist in the development of training materials and programs to enhance team knowledge and performance.
• Root Cause Analysis & Corrective Actions:
• Lead investigations and troubleshooting of quality issues and product non-conformities, conducting root cause analysis and ensuring the implementation of corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Collaboration:
• Work closely with the production, R&D, and maintenance teams to ensure smooth production operations, identify improvements, and resolve quality-related issues promptly.
• Collaborate with procurement and suppliers to ensure raw material quality and consistency.

Required Qualifications:

• Education:
• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Chemistry, or a related field.
• Additional certifications in Quality Management or Quality Control (e.g., Six Sigma, ISO 9001) are a plus.
• Experience:
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a quality control role within a manufacturing plant, preferably in the lubricant, chemical, or automotive industry.
• Proven experience with quality control testing and laboratory management.
• Skills & Competencies:
• Strong knowledge of lubricant properties, formulations, and quality control standards.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with quality control tools (e.g., statistical analysis, root cause analysis).
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in laboratory testing equipment, Microsoft Office Suite, and quality management software (e.g., SAP, LIMS).
• Experience with standard testing methods for lubricants (ASTM, ISO).

Working Conditions:

• Full-time position with a mix of office and factory floor-based responsibilities.
• May require extended hours or weekend work based on production schedules and quality assurance needs.
• Compliance with health and safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when working on the production floor or in the lab.
