Lead Administrator Qualification: Bachelors in science , engineering or equivalent Responsibility: Database/ tool Monitoring
  • Identify the specific parameters (Disk usage, performance metrics ) to be monitored and threshold values for those parameters.
  • Based on the criticality and understanding of the requirement, prioritize the specific metrics.
  • In collaboration with the client, define SLAs and map these SLA or requirements to the specific metrics.
  • Provide recommendation on the inhouse monitoring tools, if required.
  • Build monitoring risk awareness among the clients.
  • Seek signoff from the client on the monitoring metrics, if required.
  • Identify monitoring tools and share the costbenefit analysis with the client.
  • Provide technical guidance to the administrator in the tool configuration.
  • Coordinate with the vendors to configure tools if required.
  • Test the tool to ensure the requirement coverage.
  • Seek signoff from the customer on the same.
  • Implement the changes in the production environment.
  • In case of any escalation, assign the criticality to the tickets and allocate the tickets to the administrator.
  • Provide technical guidance to the administrator in resolving the issue by conducting root cause analysis.

  • Understand the environment requirement.
  • Provide recommendation to the client in terms of the hardware requirement.
  • Define capacity planning, Gather requirements from the client in terms of new application.
  • Provide recommendation ( in terms of version , clustering and system configuration) to the client on the basis of the requirement analysis.
  • Post architecture finalization, recommend prerequisites and share it with the customer.
  • Validate the prerequisites with the client.
  • Guide the team in setting up the environment.
  • Provide technical guidance to the team to dispatch new patches in the testing environment.
  • Post testing, transfer the new patches in the production environment.
  • Database/ tool Administration Currently running application administration.
  • Analyze the current application, identify the client pain points.
  • Based on the analysis, provide inputs to the lead administrator on the recommendation to resolve it.
  • Provide technical guidance to the team in software/ services installation and configuration.
  • Provide technical guidance in maintaining the knowledge database, peripherals and transport and correction system settings.
  • In collaboration with the client, define the various metrics (performance, data loss tolerated).
  • Based on the SLAs, define alert systems and guide team to implement the same.
  • Support the administrator in defining the process to create back ups.
  • In collaboration with the lead administrator, create recovery plans.
  • Define the requirements to upgrade the environment, if required.
  • Define/ adhere to the configurations required.
  • Provide technical guidance to the team to monitor the adherence of database/tool maintenance activities.
  • In collaboration with the administrator, resolve the client escalations.
  • Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to ensure scheduled data back up are taken.
  • Specific to Database Administration.
  • Provide support to the data model team in performance enhancement.
  • Review the data models and provide the sign off on the same.
  • Based on the SLAs, define alert systems and guide team to implement the same.
  • Database/ tool Administration Archiving of the existing system.
  • Create decommissioned plan to schedule, check, monitor and troubleshoot system batch jobs.
  • Provide technical guidance to the team to create/ cancel/ reschedule/ terminate the jobs as per requests or predefined procedures.
  • Provide technical guidance to the team to monitor batch inputs and interfaces.
  • Provide technical guidance to the administrator to manage clustering and high availability configurations if required.
  • Review the deployment plans for change requests (CRs) created by the administrator.
  • Diagnose and resolve the issues as applicable.
  • Monitor production incident, apply patches/upgrades wherever necessary.
  • Assess impact of any production releases on the existing system.
  • Security Administration.
  • Design roles and profiles for application security based on business processes.
  • Prepare security matrix capturing the access rights granted to a defined role.
  • Review the specification documents for security.
  • Configure the secured environment to ensure the security as per the requirement.
  • Define the role definition, permissions and privileges (as a part of the application).
  • Define security patches to the existing systems.
  • System Optimization.
  • For existing engagement/ databases.
  • Understand customer\'s business and key performance divers.
  • Provide inputs to the lead administrator to explore new avenues to save cost and bring process efficiency.
  • Analyze and recommend improvements on existing systems and processes.
  • Actively seek out opportunities and provide inputs to the lead administrator for improvements in systems and processes.
  • Conduct health checkup of the system through monitoring tools.
  • Seek out opportunities and provide inputs to the client for standardization in systems and processes.
  • Identify workloads and forecast workload evolution, if required.
  • Predict the future performance and define system availability.
  • in collaboration with the lead administrator, analyze and resolve performance bottlenecks.
  • Identify end use/applications performance problems and determine optimal performance settings.
  • Support application team in resolution of application performance problems.
  • Review the HLD/ LLD design documents created by the architect to ensure high maintainability, if required.
  • Sales Support.
  • Provide support to team manager and other relevant stakeholders during new opportunity assessment/pursuit.
  • Conduct workshops at client site to assist in sales support, if required.
  • Provide inputs/ define solution and share it with the lead administrator to seek review inputs on the same.
  • Conduct demos of product/ solution to the customer, if required.
  • Knowledge Management.
  • Provide guidance to the team to create and update knowledge articles (industry Point of View, Case studies, lessons learnt document etc) in the knowledge management repository.
  • Create knowledge articles on the workaround solutions.
  • Maintain knowledge management database.
  • People Management.
  • Conduct training / certifications with the help of academy and mentoring with respect to product and domain skills on projects.
  • Build internal capability on system management.
  • Conduct technical, face to face interviews with candidates and support recruitment process.
  • Conduct assessments on existing employees as required by the practice.
  • Understand aspirations of team members.
  • Set goals for team members and monitor performance.
  • Guide the employee in setting career paths.
  • Seek feedback from the team members and address their concerns.
  • Conduct performance appraisal for team members.
  • Organize team initiatives on a periodic basis.
