This role is critical in ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of high-quality pharmaceutical products. The Purchase Manager will work closely with suppliers, negotiate contracts, and manage inventory levels to meet the demands of the business.Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Procurement:
Develop and implement procurement strategies for Ethical Medicines, Generic Medicines, and OTC products.
Identify and evaluate potential suppliers & distributes based on quality, pricing, and delivery capabilities.
Establish and maintain relationships with key suppliers to ensure consistent supply and favorable terms.
Supplier Management:
Conduct supplier audits and assessments to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and company policies.
Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with suppliers to achieve cost savings and ensure product quality.
Manage supplier performance and resolve any issues related to delivery, quality, or pricing.
Inventory Management:
Monitor inventory levels and forecast demand to ensure adequate stock of pharmaceutical products.
Implement inventory control systems to minimize waste and reduce holding costs.
Coordinate with the warehouse and distribution teams to ensure efficient product flow.
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure all purchased products comply with relevant pharmaceutical regulations and standards.
Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and supplier performance.
Stay updated on industry regulations and standards to ensure ongoing compliance.
Cost Management:
Develop and manage the procurement budget, ensuring cost-effective purchasing practices.
Identify opportunities for cost savings and implement measures to reduce procurement expenses.
Analyze market trends and pricing to make informed purchasing decisions.
Team Leadership:
Lead and mentor the procurement team, providing guidance and support to achieve departmental goals.
Foster a collaborative and results-oriented work environment.
Conduct performance evaluations and implement development plans for team members.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Pharmacy, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical procurement, with a focus on Ethical Medicines, Generic Medicines, and OTC products.
Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
In-depth knowledge of pharmaceutical regulations and industry standards.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Proficiency in procurement software and tools.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
