: Purchase Engineer
Overview: The Purchase Engineer is directly responsible for the procurement of electrical, electronic, and mechanical components essential for various projects. This role requires specialized knowledge in the engineering industry to ensure that purchased products meet project requirements and quality standards. The Purchase Engineer collaborates closely with suppliers to negotiate agreements, manage inventory, and facilitate timely deliveries to support project timelines and objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
• Procurement Management:
• Identify project requirements through Purchase Requisitions (PRs) and Material Requirement Planning (MRP) issued by user departments.
• Procure engines, electrical, and electronic components required for projects like DETC and new initiatives.
• Follow up with vendors, particularly for long lead time items such as engines, LCC, main control boxes, harnesses, and DCS components.
• Collect specifications and drawings from user departments or record rooms to ensure accurate procurement.
• Supplier Evaluation and Negotiation:
• Evaluate suppliers to select those capable of delivering high-quality products at competitive prices.
• Float Requests for Quotation (RFQs), follow up to obtain quotes from suppliers, and validate the received quotations.
• Negotiate with suppliers on lead times, costs, and quality to maximize benefits for the company.
• Prepare comparative statements for supplier selection and obtain necessary approvals.
• Purchase Order Management:
• Issue purchase orders based on approved quotations and agreements.
• Track and expedite shipments to ensure timely delivery of goods.
• Handle delivery and inspection processes, assisting with any insurance claims related to damaged or missing items.
• Quality Assurance and Inventory Management:
• Examine and review purchased products and supplies to ensure they meet quality standards.
• Verify that all deliveries match ordered specifications and quantities.
• Organize and maintain a database of suppliers, delivery times, invoices, and product quality records.
• Collaboration and Coordination:
• Work closely with finance team members on contract terms and invoicing.
• Collaborate with team members, supervisors, and purchasing managers to develop future purchasing plans and vendor relationships.
• Analyze potential vendors and suppliers for future project needs and participate in vendor development initiatives.
• Process Improvement and Cost Reduction:
• Actively participate in KAIZEN and value engineering activities to improve procurement processes.
• Identify opportunities for cost reduction in logistics and vendor management through efficient practices and negotiations.
Additional Responsibilities:
• Undertake additional duties as assigned by the Reporting Manager to support departmental objectives and project requirements.
Qualifications and Skills:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
• Proven experience in procurement within the engineering industry, preferably in a project-based environment.
• Strong negotiation skills and ability to analyze supplier proposals.
• Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management abilities.
• Knowledge of quality assurance processes and inventory management principles.
