: Psychology CounselorReports to: PrincipalJob SummaryThe Psychology Counsellor is responsible for providing emotional, psychological, and social support to students, staff, and parents as needed. The counsellor will address individual and group concerns, promote mental well-being, and work collaboratively with teachers and administrators to create a supportive school environment.Key ResponsibilitiesCounselling Services:

  • Conduct one-on-one and group counselling sessions for students to address academic, emotional, and social challenges.
  • Provide support for students experiencing stress, anxiety, bullying, or other mental health concerns.
Assessment and Guidance:
  • Assess students' psychological needs using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Guide students in developing coping strategies, improving communication skills, and setting goals.
Collaboration:
  • Work with teachers, parents, and administrators to identify and address behavioural or emotional issues among students.
  • Collaborate on strategies to promote a positive and inclusive school culture.
Workshops and Awareness Programs:
  • Organize and conduct workshops or awareness sessions on mental health, stress management, peer relationships, and emotional intelligence.
  • Facilitate parent-teacher workshops to educate them about students' mental well-being.
Crisis Intervention:
  • Provide immediate support and intervention during crisis situations affecting students or the school community.
  • Offer referrals to external professionals or organizations when necessary.
Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of counselling sessions.
  • Provide periodic reports to the Principal regarding student progress and counselling activities.
Adherence to Policies:
  • Ensure compliance with school policies and ethical standards for counselling.
  • Maintain a professional and empathetic approach in all interactions.
Qualifications and Skills
  • A Masters degree in Psychology, Counselling, or a related field.
  • Certification in counselling or child psychology (preferred).
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience as a school counsellor or in a similar role.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive issues with empathy and confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of child development and learning psychology.
Work Environment
  • Office setting within the school premises.
  • Interaction with students, teachers, parents, and administrators.
