: Project Officer
Location: Meghalaya
Reports to : Senior Program Coordinator
PRERANA Project aims to foster and promote innovative solutions for improving youth, adolescents and women's health including sexual and reproductive health through information and empowerment by showcasing project initiatives in 8 NE States. The position will play a key role in supporting the successful implementation of a project aimed at fostering vibrant, engaged, supportive, and resilient communities. The focus of this initiative is to empower youth, women, and vulnerable and marginalized populations, while effectively engaging men, local religious, and cultural leaders. The overarching goal is to shift community norms and attitudes toward Family planning, reproductive and sexual health (FP/SRH), reducing early marriages and pregnancies, and increasing the voluntary use of FP/SRH related services.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Coordination and Oversight
1. Serve as the primary liaison between the project team and community stakeholders, to ensure effective implementation of the project.
2. Oversee the execution of agreements, contracts, and partnerships with community-based organizations and local leaders.
3. Ensure project activities align with the goals of fostering community engagement and improving access to family planning and reproductive health services.
4. Monitor the project's progress, ensuring timely delivery of objectives and adherence to budgets and timelines.
Community Engagement and Mobilization
1. Lead efforts to engage youth, women, and vulnerable groups to empower them in decision-making around family planning, sexual and reproductive health.
2. Collaborate with local religious and cultural leaders to foster support for the project's objectives and create an enabling environment for community-wide behaviour change.
3. Oversee pilot interventions and innovations in the demonstrative district/state and ensure timely delivery of objectives and adherence to budgets and timelines.
Capacity Building and Advocacy
1. Organize workshops, training sessions, and advocacy events to build the capacity of community members, particularly women and youth, to advocate for family planning, sexual and reproductive rights.
2. Develop and distribute IEC materials and campaigns to promote voluntary use of family planning, reproductive and sexual health services.
Partnership Management
1. Support the SPO/PO of PRERANA partners in project implementation as planned for the State and/or District.
2. Take the support of the SPO/PO of PRERANA partners in undertaking liaising meetings with government and non-governmental agencies as required to deliver project objectives designed for the state and/ or demonstration district.
3. Maintain strong relationships with government agencies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and local community groups to ensure coordinated efforts.
Compliance and Risk Management
1. Ensure compliance with all legal, financial, and operational guidelines for project implementation.
2. Identify and mitigate risks associated with community engagement and partnerships, ensuring the project's sustainability and success.
Documentation, Data and Reporting
1. Documentation of project activities and dissemination to stakeholders as and when required.
2. Prepare monthly and quarterly reports on project updates and maintain the project MIS for the stakeholders and events covered under project.
3. Prepare detailed reports on project activities, outcomes, and community engagement efforts, ensuring transparency and accountability.
4. Provide regular updates to senior management, donors, and partners regarding project progress and impact.
Miscellaneous
Any tasks assigned by the PRERANA partners or the State/ District Government body in alignment with the project
Qualifications :
• Master's Degree in Social Work or Public Health, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in community engagement, social behaviour change, or family planning/reproductive health programs.
• Strong understanding of gender dynamics, cultural sensitivities, and community mobilization techniques.
• Experience working with vulnerable and marginalized populations, including youth and women.
• Proven track record of managing partnerships with local organizations, religious and cultural leaders, and government stakeholders.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and prioritize effectively.
• Fluency in English and relevant local languages preferred.
