Your Role and Responsibilities
As a Project Manager, An Infrastructure Project Manager is responsible for planning and scheduling infrastructure projects timelines. They track project milestones and ensure resource availability and allocation. You will need to visit the domestic client\'s offices / data centres on a daily basis or on an as-needed basis as part of this role

Responsibilities:

  • Lead end-to-end project management for infrastructure projects, from planning to closure.
  • Define project scope, objectives, and success criteria in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and resource allocation.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with cross-functional teams, vendors, and third-party suppliers.
  • Manage project risks, issues, and dependencies, implementing effective mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor project progress, track budget and expenses, and provide regular status updates to stakeholders.
  • Conduct project meetings, ensuring clear communication and managing expectations.
  • Ensure compliance with project management methodologies and quality standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement and share lessons learned from previous projects.
  • Foster a collaborative and positive team environment, providing leadership and guidance.
  • To establish and maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders. This will include technical, operational and editorial staff in Future Media, staff in other BBC departments and divisions, as well as third parties.
  • To understand high-level technical architecture and be able to facilitate debate and drive decisions on appropriate solutions.
  • To contribute infrastructure projects to the overall portfolio and delivery planning for Online Technology.
  • To ensure that operational workflow requirements are produced to standard in a timely manner.
  • To be responsible for the project administration and the production of project documentation, e.g. project plans.
  • To monitor and manage the project processes and ensure that any elements which fail in the workflow are remedied.
  • To track progress against milestones, deadlines and budget. To Report on these items to key stakeholders and to provide dependency information into OTG delivery team for their business projects.
  • To anticipate, manage and resolve issues and act as the point of contact for the project.
  • To use best practice risk management, assessing risks in an informed and considered manner and to plan for the mitigation of these risks.
  • To run in-house projects on a day-to-day basis and take responsibility for their delivery using agile and more formal techniques as appropriate.
  • Provide support and assistance in the promotion and adoption of Programme & Project Management best practices within OTG.
  • Ready to work on 24/7 shifts to support client requirement
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
  • 10 years of experience out of which at least 7 years in handling similar IT Infrastructure management projects as Project Manager
  • Track record of delivering IT infrastructure projects within a technically complex and dynamic environment, specifically that required to support multiple business projects.
  • Experience of successfully engaging management and groups of technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of Programme Management, e.g. Managing Successful Programmes (MSP), Prince2 and agile project management tools and methodologies.
  • Familiarity with key new media technologies particularly those related to internet distribution of AV and web content.
  • Familiarity with Open source software technologies as used by BBC Future Media
  • Experience of successfully managing the delivery of multiple projects.
  • Experience of managing business change
  • Able to demonstrate strong management skills including project management, financial management, change man
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Project Manager, specifically in managing infrastructure projects within IBM or similar large-scale enterprise environments.
  • Strong technical knowledge of infrastructure domains, such as servers, networks, storage, virtualization, and cloud technologies.
  • Project management certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with effective communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work well under pressure.
  • You love collaborative environments that use agile methodologies to encourage creative design thinking and find innovative ways to develop with cutting edge technologies
