The R&D Staff Project Mgr is responsible for managing and executing localization / translation projects for multiple languages and across Bus . Typical projects including R&D user interface, product documentation, marketing collateral, contracts, etc. The project manager interfaces with BMC employees, partners, and customers, as well as localization vendors.Primary Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provide end-to-end L10N program and project management from initiation to closure
  • Lead Localization Centre of Excellence and manage best practices
  • Control costs using translation management systems (TDC GlobalLink TMS, AI Portal, Terminology Manager), machine translation, translation memory TM, content reuse, standardized termbases / terminology glossaries, etc.).
  • L10N vendor management, KPI and metrics reporting on spend, TM leverage, etc. using Tableau. Manage L10N budget across multiple organizations.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize and automate translation processes for efficiency and cost saving
  • Anticipate L10N project risks and issues. Apply risk prioritization and mitigation techniques
  • Participate in company level and team initiatives involving cross team collaboration
  • Gather L10N and translation requirements and project information from product teams, and maintain up-to-date project management information on Confluence wiki, JIRA, etc.
  • Work with R&D stakeholders, IDD and vendor side technical team on the technology aspects and localization readiness.
  • Assist in research and development of new localization processes and tools, including artificial intelligence / machine translation, translation automation, etc.
  • Contribute towards globalization strategy formalization in collaboration with BMC stakeholders
  • Maintain centralized process and tools for the overall L10N process, file management, project management, and communication using collaborative tools (Confluence wiki, JIRA defect tracking system, etc.) and look for ways to improve processes across teams.
  • Submit source files (jobs) to the L10N vendor via the translation management system (TMS), manage translation queries, and deliver translated files to product teams. Manage hand-off and hand-backs with vendor and internal team.
  • Manage product documentation translation (Confluence wiki) via the TMS and prepare final deliverables. Maintain process documentation (Scroll Translations and other Confluence plugins)
  • Work with R&D and QA teams, as well as L10N vendor, to analyze and resolve L10N defects (functional and linguistic)
  • Monitor BMC Community for localization issues, and work with R&D and QA teams and other resources to resolve customer reported L10N defects
  • Manage linguistic QAs (LQAs) with R&D and QA teams, as well as with L10N vendor (meetings, defect tracking and fixes, etc.)
  • Plan and participate in product staff and stakeholder meetings (from release planning to retrospective) throughout the software development lifecycle regarding localization (L10N) and translation
  • Use reporting tools to analyze customer usage of products, documentation, and videos per language and region via Google Analytics and other tools to advise stakeholders.
  • Provide L10N training to various teams across the enterprise
REQUIRED SKILLS:
  • 8 to 10 years of localization buyer side of experience with translation/localization project, processes, and tools (TMS, CAT, Workflow Orchestrator, Website localization platforms, TM (Translation Memory) server, terminology platform, etc.)
  • Hands on experience in defining and implementing Globalization strategy.
  • Expertise in Localization technology implementations such as connectors, APIs, AI, automation tools/workflows.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships with Language Service Providers
  • Knowledge of Localization engineering activities, TMS configuration management and localization asset management
  • Experience of elearning and multimedia localization. Familiarity authoring and media tools (e.g., Camtasia, Adobe Suite, Articulate)
  • Familiarity with CMS (Content Management Systems), LMS (Learning Management Systems) Source Code management System (e.g., Github), Salesforce.com
  • Familiarity with SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) and Agile methodologies
  • Experience with defect tracking systems (e.g., JIRA), analytical tools (Tableau, Power BI)
  • Familiarity with i18n standards and testing
  • Should be willing to work in hours - 12.30 to 9.30 PM
  • Good to have Hands on experience in localization engineering and Desktop Publishing tasks

Languages
  • Good to have: Besides English, proficiency in one of our top five supported languages: Japanese, French, German, Spanish, Brazilian-Portuguese, etc.
Education/Skills/Background
  • Bachelor's degree (Business Administration/Linguistics/Engineering)
  • Experience in technology/software domain
  • Certified Localization Project Manager/PMP
